On March 31, according to information from Military Region 1, Division 3 just organized the 2026 New Soldier Training Sports Festival, a group of subordinate battalions.
The sports festival is organized comprehensively on many contents, focusing on training advisory work; infantry combat technical training, tactics, regulations and physical strength; contents on logistics and technical work.
Through the sports festival, Division 3 assesses the actual level of organization and training methods of cadres at all levels; and at the same time checks the results of studying and training of new soldiers after the first month of enlistment.
In the 2026 training exercise, soldiers will use the new STV-380 submachine gun manufactured by Factory Z111 (General Department of National Defense Industry).
Division 5 (Military Region 7) also just organized a military training class for the armed forces of the Military Region in 2026. In this training class, 250 officers from agencies, units, localities, and schools in the armed forces of the Military Region were introduced to new shooting plans for K54 pistols and STV-380 submachine guns; regulations for the Military Flag team, the team of each person with a gun as well as the team of the Infantry Squad to examine guns, gun shelves, take guns, place guns - the company team.
The General Department of Politics previously also organized military work training in 2026. Based on the training content, agencies and units will organize implementation immediately in 2026.
The content that attracted much attention was that at this military work training session, training teachers introduced in detail the contents of weapons, rules and firing movements of 3 types of guns: STV-380, STV-215, STV-022.

The production line of the new generation STV assault rifle of Factory Z111 (General Department of National Defense Industry) has so far produced many STV infantry rifle lines, notably the STV-380 submachine gun. This type of gun is produced and mass-equipped for many units throughout the army, gradually replacing the old AK-47/AKM lines in the army.
STV is the abbreviation of Gun - Submachine gun - Vietnam; symbol 380 indicates the length of the gun barrel (unit measured in millimeters).
The gun is designed according to the principle of extracting gas to automatically load ammunition for the next shot. A common feature of the STV lines is that they all use 7.62x39mm ammunition and can use any standard magazine of AK-47/AKM.
Notably with a length of 900mm when opening the spokes and about 600mm when folding the spokes, the STV-380 is designed to be compact and lightweight with a weight (non-ballistic) of about 3.6kg. The highlight of the STV-380 is the ability to attach accessories such as scopes, flashlights, lasers, bolt-on grenade launchers, bayonets... on Picatinny rails (above and below the lining).
