On the afternoon of April 3, the National Assembly Office held a press conference to inform about the draft program of the First Session, 16th National Assembly.
At the press conference, Ms. Ta Thi Yen - Deputy Chairwoman of the National Assembly Deputy Affairs Committee - said that at the First Session, the 16th National Assembly will elect and approve a large number of key leadership positions of the State according to the provisions of the Constitution and law.
The National Assembly will elect the Chairman of the National Assembly, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, Members of the National Assembly Standing Committee; elect the President, Vice President, Prime Minister, Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court, Chief Procurator of the Supreme People's Procuracy, State Auditor General.
The National Assembly also approved the proposal for appointment for positions such as Deputy Prime Minister, Ministers, members of the Government and some other positions under its authority.
Overall, the number of personnel elected and approved by the National Assembly at the First Session is 39 positions related to all senior leadership positions of the State at the Central level and ensuring the synchronous consolidation of institutions according to the new term. This is one of the key contents, of particular importance of the First Session.
This consolidation is aimed at fully completing the State leadership apparatus to organize the implementation of national development tasks in the 2026-2031 period," Ms. Ta Thi Yen stated clearly.
Answering the press about the number of Vice Chairmen of the National Assembly and Deputy Prime Ministers who will be elected/approved at the First Session, Ms. Ta Thi Yen affirmed that the determination of the number of these titles has been carried out on the basis of closely following the reality of the organizational structure and the workload and tasks in the new period. At the same time, strictly complying with the provisions of law and the Central Government's orientation.
The specific plan for the number of these positions has been considered by competent authorities in the overall project on organizational structure and personnel plan submitted to the National Assembly at the First Session.
The National Assembly will base on practical requirements and the nature of work on the principle of streamlining, effectiveness, and efficiency to decide on the appropriate number. The general spirit is to ensure that the apparatus is both stable and has inheritance and reasonable adjustments to meet new development requirements.
