Revoking licenses, terminating operations of LNG gas power projects that do not meet regulations

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested to revoke licenses and terminate operations for LNG gas power projects that are not implemented to meet regulations.

On February 26, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a meeting of the Standing Committee of the Government on a number of important contents. The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Ministers, leaders of ministries, branches, central and local agencies.

According to the Government Office, at the meeting, the Standing Committee of the Government discussed and gave opinions on removing difficulties and obstacles for LNG gas power projects; the project of an economic cooperation zone across the Vietnam - China border to prepare a report to competent authorities.

Regarding removing difficulties and obstacles for LNG gas power projects, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh directed the Ministry of Industry and Trade to preside over and coordinate with ministries and sectors to review and adjust planning related to LNG gas power with a spirit of focused and effective investment.

At the same time, review current laws, mechanisms, and policies, clarify the contents to continue to maintain stability, the contents that need to be amended and replaced, and the contents that need to be supplemented, urgently build and submit to competent authorities.

On that basis, the agencies compare with the proposals and recommendations of investors and answer decisively, accept appropriate proposals and recommendations; and at the same time revoke licenses and terminate operations for projects that are not implemented to meet regulations.

The Prime Minister emphasized the spirit of ensuring national interests, preventing negativity and wastefulness, and ensuring electricity supply to meet production, business, and consumption needs.

Giving opinions for agencies to continue to complete the project of the Vietnam - China border economic cooperation zone to prepare a report to competent authorities, the Prime Minister emphasized the requirement for ministries, branches, agencies, and localities to develop specific roadmaps and plans to implement tasks, ensuring 6 clarities: Clear people, clear tasks, clear time, clear responsibilities, clear authority, clear products.

Also in the afternoon of the same day, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a meeting of the Standing Committee of the Government with ministries, branches, and relevant agencies to promote the progress of the Long Thanh airport project (Long Thanh International Airport).
