The National Assembly Standing Committee has just issued Resolution No. 1247/NQ-UBTVQH15 on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units of Kien Giang province for the 2023-2025 period.
Arrange the commune-level administrative units of Rach Gia city as follows: Merge the entire natural area of 1.18 km2 and population size of 15,990 people of Vinh Bao ward into Vinh Thanh Van ward.
After the merger, Vinh Thanh Van ward has a natural area of 1.99 km2 and a population of 27,429 people.
After the arrangement, Rach Gia city has 11 commune-level administrative units, including 10 wards and 1 commune.
After rearranging commune-level administrative units, Kien Giang province has 15 district-level administrative units, including 12 districts and 3 cities; 143 commune-level administrative units, including 116 communes, 17 wards and 10 towns.
This Resolution comes into force from December 1, 2024.
The Government, People's Council, People's Committee of Kien Giang province and relevant agencies and organizations are responsible for organizing the implementation of this Resolution; arranging and perfecting the apparatus of local agencies and organizations; stabilizing the lives of local people, ensuring the requirements of socio-economic development, national defense and security in the area.
The Government directed relevant ministries and Kien Giang provincial authorities to continue researching and developing appropriate reorganization plans for administrative units that are subject to reorganization but have not yet been reorganized in the 2023-2025 period.
Determine the roadmap to complete the necessary standards and conditions to ensure the implementation of the arrangement in the following years in accordance with regulations.
