At the meeting with Dien Bien province, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang informed that the Prime Minister has directed emergency support for Dien Bien of 10 billion VND to overcome the consequences of natural disasters, so Dien Bien needs to use Urgent, timely and effective funding source.
Previously, on the afternoon of August 4, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang inspected the site where flash floods occurred in Muong Pon commune, Dien Bien district. At the scene, the Deputy Prime Minister acknowledged and appreciated the efforts of local authorities and departments and branches that helped people move their houses and assets; Support the search for missing people and families of people who died due to flash floods.
From the beginning of the year until now, Dien Bien province has been affected by 26 natural disasters; causing 9 deaths; 4 people missing; 12 people were injured; 1,365 houses were damaged; More than 1,719 hectares of agricultural land were damaged; 351 buffaloes and cows and 25.33 hectares of aquatic products were swept away.
In addition, floods have caused damage to many traffic infrastructure works; irrigation; electricity; communications; medical; education. Estimated total damage in the whole province from the beginning of the year to August 2 is about 256.5 billion VND (only for heavy rains, flash floods, and landslides from July 23 to August 2, the damage is about 211.5 billion VND).
