On May 5, in Hanoi, General Phan Van Giang - Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense - chaired a Conference to develop a Draft Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of 11 laws on the military and defense sectors (abbreviated as the Draft Law), according to the Ministry of National Defense Electronic Information Portal.

Also attending the Conference were General Nguyen Tan Cuong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Central Military Commission, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Deputy Minister of National Defense.

The conference aims to direct and urge the progress of construction and completion of the law project to report to the Government to submit to the National Assembly in accordance with the plan; At the same time, contributing to completing the legal corridor for the task of building and defending the Fatherland in the new situation.

The law project with the scope of regulation is related to 11 laws, including: National Defense Law (2018); Law on Militia and Self -Defense (2019); Law on reserve force (2019); Law on National Defense and Security Education (2013); Military Service Law (2015); Professional military law, defense workers and officers (2015); Vietnam Border Law (2020); Law on civil defense (2023); Law on Vietnam People's Army Officers (1999, amended in 2008, 2014, 2024); Law on management and protection of defense works and military zones (2023); People's Defense Law (2024).

At the conference, representatives of agencies and units focused on reporting the results of the implementation progress of the assigned tasks, the content of reviewing and evaluating the practical implementation of current laws ... The opinions also agreed on the need to synchronously amend the relevant laws, ensuring uniformity in the military and defense legal system; analyze and raise some difficulties and obstacles; recommendations and proposals for scope and content to amend and supplement as well as solutions to remove to ensure the progress and quality of the law project.

Concluding the conference, General Phan Van Giang emphasized that the Draft Law is an important political task, requiring the drastic and highly responsible participation of agencies and units in the entire army.

General Phan Van Giang requested agencies and units to continue carefully reviewing, identifying the focus of amendments, ensuring the closeness of the Party's guidelines and orientations, in accordance with the practice of building the army and national defense of the entire people; At the same time meet the requirements of international integration. The completion of the law project must comply with the law, ensure the quality, progress, complete and report before May 15, 2025.
