On August 26, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh - Head of the National Steering Committee on International Integration - chaired a meeting of the Steering Committee, aiming to continue implementing and concretizing Resolution No. 59 of the Politburo on international integration in the new situation.
In his concluding remarks, the Prime Minister stated that international integration has contributed significantly to strengthening a peaceful and stable environment for the country's development, especially in the current context of many uncertainties, uncertainties and complex international affairs.
Since the issuance of Resolution 59, we have continued to expand and upgrade our network of partners, deepen bilateral relations and expand cooperation in many fields, strengthen political trust and intertwine interests increasingly closely with other countries.
Since January 2025, Vietnam has upgraded relations with 9 countries, bringing the total number of partners with which our country has relations from Comprehensive Partnership to 38 or more.
International integration has helped enhance the position, role and voice of our country in the international arena. Our country continues to affirm its role as a leading country in promoting international cooperation and solidarity, promoting the role of international law and multilateral institutions, including the role of ASEAN and the United Nations.
In the coming time, the Prime Minister requested to continue to promote the dissemination and study of Resolution 59, especially the contents of new thinking, new approaches and implementation methods of international integration in the new situation.
In particular, it is necessary to pay special attention to thoroughly grasping the change of thinking in international integration: From a country "background, participating, signing, joining" to "actively implementing, implementing, contributing to building and shaping" new cooperation frameworks and rules.
Not only attracting resources but now being ready to proactively "share and contribute resources" to common international issues; the task of "promoting foreign affairs and international integration is important and regular".
Determine international integration with people and businesses as the center and subject; change the state to proactive, active, extensive, substantial, and effective integration.
The Prime Minister also requested the urgent completion of the National Assembly's Resolution on a number of special mechanisms and policies for international integration, in order to remove and overcome institutional and policy bottlenecks that are hindering international integration.
At the same time, create breakthrough and specific mechanisms and policies to make international integration a real driving force for development.
Accordingly, it is necessary to immediately amend inappropriate legal documents that are hindering the international integration process; have breakthrough policies in each integration field; focus on concretizing the contents related to integration in Resolutions 57, 66 and 68 in the "four pillars" and upcoming resolutions to create connectivity and synchronization in strategy.
Strengthen the implementation and preparation for the organization of major international integration activities as planned; prepare well for the organization of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime signing ceremony in Hanoi next October.
Urgently complete the organizational structure of APEC Year 2027; ensure the successful participation of senior Vietnamese leaders at major multilateral events from now until the end of the year.
