On June 26, at the Government Headquarters, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung received Mr. Jeff Place - Supply Chain Director of Coherent Group (USA), during a visit and working trip to Vietnam.
Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung highly appreciated the contributions of Coherent Group to the development of Vietnam's high-tech industry over the past 20 years, especially in the field of manufacturing optical components, semiconductor materials, high-tech optical glass and laser solutions serving the global supply chain.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that the Vietnamese Government sets a double-digit economic growth target in the period 2026-2030, in which it identifies the development of science, technology, innovation and digital transformation as new growth drivers.
The Deputy Prime Minister also said that Vietnam encourages the development of data center projects and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure using modern technology, energy-saving, ensuring network safety and security, protecting data and in accordance with the technical infrastructure development plan of each locality.
Appreciating the sharing of the leaders of Coherent Group, the Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam always values the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with the United States, in which cooperation in economy, investment, science and technology, innovation, semiconductor industry and digital transformation are strategically significant areas, bringing practical benefits to both countries.
Emphasizing that the Vietnamese Government always accompanies the business community, the Deputy Prime Minister said that Vietnam welcomes US businesses to continue to expand operations in Vietnam, especially in high-tech industries and areas with high added value.
On Coherent Group's side, Mr. Jeff Place said that the group has been present in Vietnam for about 25 years and built quality production facilities in the group of best in the group's global system. Coherent Group wishes to continue to accompany Vietnam, sharing development achievements through expanding investment, training high-quality human resources and developing a semiconductor ecosystem.
Mr. Jeff Place said that Coherent Group is one of the enterprises with outstanding strengths in mastering the entire supply chain, from input materials, production equipment to complete systems and products serving the global market. Therefore, the enterprise wishes to develop an ecosystem with Vietnam that all parties can benefit from and develop sustainably.
In addition to production activities, Coherent also focuses on research and technology development. The Group is cooperating with universities in Vietnam not only in human resource training but also in researching new technologies to promote innovation and improve the capacity of the semiconductor industry.
Mr. Jeff Place affirmed that Coherent believes in the investment environment in Vietnam as well as the cooperative relationship that has been built over the years.
The Group has a long-term development plan in Vietnam and wishes to accelerate the implementation of the goals in the 10-year development strategy, contributing to making Vietnam an important link in the global semiconductor supply chain.
