After announcing the conclusion of the Ministry of National Defense on local military organization after merging provincial and commune-level administrative units, Major General Luong Van Kiem - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Commander of Military Region 3 - said that after reorganizing the 2-level local government and merging provincial levels, Military Region 3 will establish 4 provincial-level Military Commands, including: Military Commands of Hai Phong City, Quang Ninh Province, Hung Yen, Ninh Binh.
The Commander of Military Region 3 requested that Military Region agencies and the Military Commands of provinces and cities proactively do a good job of organizing local military agencies according to the conclusion of the Ministry of National Defense.
Strictly and in accordance with regulations on management and use of national defense land and management and use, handover of documents and seals.
At the same time, maintain and effectively implement Party activities, political work, Party building organization, security protection, and mass mobilization during the merger period.
Ensure good shelters, logistics and technical facilities to facilitate the task of organizing local military forces after merging provincial and commune-level administrative units.
According to the Ministry of National Defense, Military Region 3 currently consists of 9 provinces and cities: Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Thai Binh, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Hoa Binh, Hung Yen, Hai Duong, Ha Nam, with 94 districts, towns and cities directly under the province (including 4 island districts, 3 districts, border cities; 1,821 communes, wards, towns (including 30 island communes and 16 border communes); the natural area of Military Region 3 is 20,641 km2.
In Resolution No. 60 approved by the Party Central Committee on April 12 at the 11th Central Conference of the 13th tenure, the Party Central Committee agreed to the plan to merge 34 provinces and cities (28 provinces and 6 centrally-run cities).
Accordingly, Hung Yen province and Thai Binh province will be merged, named Hung Yen province, the political and administrative center located in the current Hung Yen province.
Merging Hai Duong province and Hai Phong city, named Hai Phong city, the political - administrative center located in the current Hai Phong city.
Merge Ha Nam province, Ninh Binh province and Nam Dinh province; named Ninh Binh province, the political - administrative center located in the current Ninh Binh province.
Maintain Quang Ninh province. In particular, Hoa Binh province will merge Vinh Phuc province and Phu Tho province; named Phu Tho province, the political and administrative center located in the current Phu Tho province.
