The Yen Bai Provincial Party Committee has just issued a conclusion on the rearrangement of administrative units at all levels in the province. According to the agreed plan, this locality will arrange 146 communes, 12 wards, 10 towns into 36 communes and 5 new wards.
In which, Nghia Lo town merged with Nghia Son commune, Van Chan district and organized into 2 new wards: Nghia Lo ward (including 8 old commune and ward units) and Phu Nham ward (including 7 old commune and ward units).

Yen Bai city merged with Phu Thinh commune in Yen Binh district and 2 communes of Minh Quan, Cuong Thinh commune, Tran Yen district to reorganize into 3 new wards: Nguyen Thai Hoc ward (including 7 old commune and ward units), Dong Tam ward (including 5 old commune and ward units) and Yen Bai ward (including 5 old commune and ward units).
According to the Yen Bai Provincial Party Committee, the project to reorganize commune-level administrative units will be submitted to the Government and the Ministry of Home Affairs and completed before June 30.
Nghia Lo town is located in the southwest, 84 km from Yen Bai city via National Highway 37 and 190 km from the capital Hanoi via National Highway 32. This land covers the entire Muong Lo field - the second largest in the Northwest mountainous region.
