Before the outstanding achievements of Lai Chau Provincial Police, Deputy Minister of Public Security Nguyen Van Long sent a letter of commendation.

On January 6, 2025, according to the Ministry of Public Security's Electronic Information Portal, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Long - Deputy Minister of Public Security - has just sent a Letter of Commendation to the Director of Lai Chau Provincial Police, praising the achievements in destroying a criminal group that took advantage of cyberspace to commit fraud and appropriate property of 200 victims in 29 localities across the country.

The content of the Letter of Commendation clearly states: The leaders of the Ministry of Public Security received a report: Lai Chau Provincial Police coordinated with the Police of units, localities and functional forces of the Kingdom of Cambodia to fight a special case, destroy a criminal group that took advantage of cyberspace to commit fraud and appropriate property, operating in BaVet city, Svay Rieng province, Cambodia, arrested 18 Vietnamese subjects (of which, 12 subjects were arrested in Cambodia). Initially, the subjects were identified as having appropriated 3.95 billion VND from 52/200 victims in 29 localities across the country.

Despite many difficulties, with intelligence, determination, professional courage, sense of responsibility, daring to think, daring to do, Lai Chau Provincial Police have identified and fiercely fought against criminals who take advantage of high technology and use foreign locations to commit crimes of fraud and property appropriation in accordance with the direction of the Central Public Security Party Committee and the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security.

The results of the investigation and discovery of the case have contributed to reducing the risk of thousands of victims being abused; deterring and preventing organized crime; fostering good relations between the functional forces of Vietnam and Cambodia in preventing and fighting crime; and strengthening people's trust in the Party, the State and the People's Public Security force.

"On behalf of the Central Party Committee of the Public Security and the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security, I congratulate and commend your outstanding achievements," said Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long in his letter of commendation.

In the letter of commendation, the leader of the Ministry of Public Security also requested the Lai Chau Provincial Police to urgently coordinate with professional units to expand the investigation, exploit the subjects, consolidate documents and evidence to propose prosecution before the law; organize propaganda work well, contributing to creating a strong atmosphere in attacking and suppressing criminals using high technology, taking advantage of cyberspace to commit crimes to warn and raise people's awareness.

The Central Public Security Party Committee and the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security hope that Lai Chau Provincial Public Security will promote its achievements, step up the implementation of the peak period of crime suppression, ensure security and order during the Lunar New Year 2025, continue to achieve more outstanding achievements, contribute to reducing crime, gradually build a safe and healthy society, for national security, for the peaceful and happy life of the people.
