Joining the Prime Minister's delegation were Mr. Do Duc Duy - Minister of Natural Resources and Environment; Mr. Nguyen Van Thang - Minister of Transport; Ms. Dao Thi Hong Lan - Minister of Health and leaders of central ministries and branches.
The Prime Minister's working session was connected online to 9 districts, towns and cities in Yen Bai province.
At the meeting, Chairman of Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee Tran Huy Tuan said that the impact of storm No. 3 in the area killed more than 40 people, 4 people went missing, and 24 people were injured. The whole province had 22,886 houses damaged. The total area of damaged and affected crops was 4,828 hectares.
Regarding traffic and irrigation infrastructure, Yen Bai has 4 national highways with 180 landslide points; 14 provincial roads with 200 landslide points causing traffic jams; many rural roads have landslides, collapsed and washed away...
Along with the allocation and effective use of 20 billion VND of temporary support from the Government, Yen Bai has proactively arranged over 46 billion VND from the provincial budget to provide emergency support to forces and people to respond to and overcome the consequences of natural disasters.
Yen Bai province has also established working groups to go directly to the area to direct agencies, units, localities, and relevant forces to deploy measures to prevent and respond to natural disasters; visit, encourage, and provide thoughtful and timely support to families with dead or missing people.
Up to now, the whole province has mobilized over 100,000 people to participate in overcoming the consequences of storm No. 3; mobilized thousands of vehicles from Military Region 2, police, army, departments, branches, businesses located in the area and volunteer organizations inside and outside the province to focus on responding to and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters.
The province has relocated and arranged temporary accommodation for nearly 13,000 households in dangerous areas at risk of flooding and landslides; nearly 60,000 people whose houses were deeply submerged in water have been moved to safety.
At the meeting, leaders of central ministries and branches said they would actively support Yen Bai province in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters. The Ministry of Transport will support Yen Bai province with 5,000 steel cages to overcome landslides on traffic routes; and send working groups to help the province assess the current status of traffic works.
The Ministry of Health provided 2 tons of Cloramin B for Yen Bai province to spray disinfectants to ensure environmental hygiene; supported high-capacity disinfectants to spray disinfectants at public facilities such as schools, medical stations, hospitals, etc.
Speaking at the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh encouraged, visited and shared the pain with families whose people died due to natural disasters.
The Prime Minister highly appreciated Yen Bai for seriously implementing the Prime Minister's instructions in preventing and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters; strictly supporting affected people and evacuating people in high-risk areas to safety.
To achieve the highest goal of ensuring people's safety above all, first of all, not letting anyone go hungry or thirsty due to natural disasters, the Prime Minister requested that the entire political system from the central to local levels make the highest efforts, the greatest efforts to concentrate rescue forces, quickly search for missing people, care for and treat the injured, take care of sick people, and provide supplies to those who are still isolated.
The Prime Minister requested Yen Bai province to quickly stabilize the situation of the people, first of all, to move evacuated families back to their homes when it is safe; arrange resettlement land for households whose houses have collapsed or whose housing is unsafe. Focus on cleaning up the environment, preventing epidemics and implementing it quickly. Ensure food, food and essential needs for the people; re-examine educational and medical facilities to bring students back to school soon.
The Prime Minister also requested the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of National Defence to continue to send more forces to support Yen Bai province in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, quickly stabilizing life, restoring production and business, and creating livelihoods for the people.
