On April 22, at the Government Headquarters, Politburo Member, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung chaired a working session with the Ministry of Industry and Trade on the implementation of assigned tasks in 2026, difficulties, obstacles, and hot and important issues arising in practice.
Concluding, the Prime Minister clearly stated that the requirements and tasks of national development in the new period are very clear, but the responsibility for implementation is large and heavy, especially ensuring the goal of sustainable double-digit growth.
The implementation of the set goals, including the double-digit growth target, depends heavily on the quality and efficiency of the industry's operations.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade must shoulder the central task, pioneering in handling existing problems and promoting production and business activities to achieve the set goals," the Prime Minister noted.
Government leaders directed the Ministry of Industry and Trade to coordinate with relevant ministries to review and improve regulations on the functions and tasks of the Ministry of Industry and Trade in the direction of clearly defining the authority of ministries and agencies, avoiding overlap in the spirit of the direction in Conclusion 18 of the 2nd Central Conference.
Note to ensure "one job - one agency in charge, responsible", especially in the management and exploitation of minerals, management of industrial parks, export processing zones, corporations, and state-owned enterprises in the field of Industry and Trade.
The Ministry continues to drastically and seriously implement the direction of the Standing Committee of the Government on decentralization, cutting and simplifying administrative procedures, business conditions, and conditional business lines, to be completed in April; promote substantive decentralization and delegation of power to localities, and continue to review and streamline the organizational structure.

The Prime Minister requested to ensure energy security and fair energy transition; the Ministry and Industry and Trade sectors are responsible for not allowing electricity and gasoline shortages in all situations.
Urgently review, update, and supplement Power Plan VIII, supplement land-based power projects according to new technologies, accelerate the progress of power projects; closely coordinate with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment in operating effectively and optimizing hydropower reservoirs.
Promptly develop a plan to review and restructure the gasoline and oil business and distribution system in the direction of reducing intermediaries and reducing costs; urgently deploy the construction of a national gasoline and oil reserve; accelerate the use of E10 gasoline.
Along with that, promote the restructuring of industrial and supply chains, promote in-depth industrial production, improve domestic production autonomy capacity; contribute to establishing a new growth model. Accelerate the implementation of large-scale industrial projects. Build linkage chains between domestic enterprises and FDI enterprises, promote Vietnamese enterprises to deeply participate in the strategic supply chains of other countries.
Improve the efficiency of import and export activities, diversify export markets; prepare carefully the content and plans for tax negotiations with the US; optimize and effectively exploit signed FTAs, negotiate new FTAs; organize assessment, innovate operations, and improve the efficiency of Vietnamese trade abroad with the motto of having specific products and contributions.
