During his official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), on the afternoon of October 27, local time, in the capital city of Abu Dhabi, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received leaders of several leading UAE corporations in the fields of infrastructure development and management, seaports, logistics, and industrial zones, including: Mr. Tamer Wagih Salem - Chairman of Prime Group; Mr. Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi - CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports Group; Mr. Neils De Bruijn - Director of NDMC Group; Mr. Khaled Al Shemeili - Director of Emirates Car Company.
Thanking the Prime Minister for taking the time to receive him, leaders of UAE corporations said that UAE businesses have leading capabilities in developing and managing infrastructure, seaports, shipbuilding, logistics, etc. They see that Vietnam has great potential in Southeast Asia to develop these fields; they hope that the Government will create favorable conditions for UAE businesses to invest in Vietnam, including cooperation projects with Vietnam's Vingroup Corporation.
Appreciating the positive results in business activities of UAE enterprises in recent times, the Prime Minister said that after more than 30 years of establishing diplomatic relations, the Vietnam - UAE relationship has developed positively in many fields. However, investment cooperation activities between the two sides are still not commensurate with the potential of bilateral relations, and there is still much room for development in the coming time.
Proposing that Abu Dhabi Ports Corporation and NDMC Corporation, with their experience in port management, participate in and support the Vietnamese Government and enterprises to achieve the above-mentioned goals, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh supported and welcomed the cooperation plan of the corporations with VinGroup; considering this a smart choice, with strategic vision; hoping that the cooperation between the two sides will continue to be expanded to further promote economic relations between the two countries in the coming time.
The Prime Minister asked Vinfast and Emirates Driving to promote cooperation, contribute and join Vietnam in achieving the goal of green growth, sustainable development, and implementing the commitment to zero net emissions by 2050 at COP26. In particular, the Prime Minister hoped that the investment cooperation between the two sides in establishing an electric car factory will be concretized and implemented soon in the near future.
For Prime Group, the Prime Minister suggested that with its extensive network of partners, the group should call for and act as a bridge to bring reputable and potential investors to cooperate in investment and business in Vietnam in the coming time.
The Prime Minister also said that Vietnam promotes development based on science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, green transformation, circular economy, knowledge economy, sharing economy, especially emerging industries such as semiconductor chips, cloud computing, Internet of Things, etc.; hopes that UAE businesses will cooperate and invest in Vietnam in these fields.
Noting that Vietnam has potential and is promoting the implementation of oil and gas projects and the development of gas-based energy, offshore wind energy projects, and solar energy projects, including projects with an investment capital of about 10 billion USD, the Prime Minister said that this is a field in which UAE enterprises have strengths and hopes that enterprises will cooperate and invest.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam always creates favorable conditions in accordance with the law for UAE investors in general to invest and do business effectively and sustainably in Vietnam, contributing to promoting comprehensive and profound cooperation for the prosperity of the two countries, the region and the world.
