Vietnam Airlines will focus on opening air ticket sales during peak hours from February 9th to March 3rd, 2026, i.e. from December 22nd to the full moon of the first lunar month. The load increase is to serve the travel, visiting relatives and spring travel needs of passengers across the country during Tet.
The routes increased in this phase mainly depart from Ho Chi Minh City, including routes to Hanoi, Vinh, Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, Da Nang, Hue, Chu Lai, Buon Ma Thuot, Pleiku, Tuy Hoa, Quy Nhon and Phu Quoc. These are routes with high demand during Tet, especially the North-South axis routes and regional connection routes.
In addition, Vietnam Airlines also opened for sale 4 more routes departing from Hai Phong, including Hai Phong - Nha Trang, Can Tho, Buon Ma Thuot and Phu Quoc. The addition of these routes contributes to diversifying passenger travel options, while reducing pressure on main routes during the Tet peak period.
According to Vietnam Airlines, proactively supplementing supply in a short time shows the Company's readiness in terms of resources, operating capacity as well as the spirit of serving peak periods, in order to ensure safe, convenient and smooth travel needs for passengers during the Binh Ngo Tet holiday.
In the peak period, Vietnam Airlines recommends that passengers actively plan, book and buy tickets early through the website, mobile application of Vietnam Airlines or the ticket office system, official agency of the airline. Passengers are also encouraged to complete online procedures within 24 hours before departure through the website, mobile application, VNeID, switchboard or at check-in counters at the airport.
In particular, passengers are encouraged to use biometric technology during check-in to shorten waiting times. Passengers who have completed online or biometric check-in procedures and do not carry checked baggage can go directly to the security screening area, contributing to reducing congestion at the airport during peak hours.
Previously, Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam Uong Viet Dung signed and issued a Directive on ensuring safety and quality of air transport services to serve the 14th National Party Congress and the peak period of the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year, the 2026 Spring Festival season.
According to the Directive, the first months of 2026 are the time for the 14th National Party Congress, a particularly important political event of the country. At the same time, the travel demand of people and international visitors is forecast to increase sharply during the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year and the 2026 Spring Festival season.
To ensure smooth, safe, civilized and effective air transport operations, the Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requested agencies and units in the industry to uphold the spirit of responsibility, service attitude, and focus on synchronously implementing solutions to ensure transport operations and air service quality.

In addition, airlines must strictly implement legal regulations on domestic airfares, organize ticket sales in accordance with the price frame, publicly and transparently; strengthen propaganda for passengers to buy tickets through official distribution channels; inspect and supervise ticket sales activities of agents and handle violations.
For Vietnam Airports Corporation, Van Don and Phu Quoc International Airports, the Director requested to develop service plans, strengthen human resources, ensure infrastructure, equipment, vehicles, especially conditions for night flights; closely coordinate with relevant units to optimize the operation of terminals, parking lots, take-off and landing routes, and prevent congestion at airports during peak times.
