On the morning of September 12 (local time), Politburo Member, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and the high-level Vietnamese delegation arrived at Indira Gandhi International Airport in India, starting the program to attend the 18th BRICS Summit and bilateral working sessions from September 12-13 at the invitation of Prime Minister of the Republic of India Narendra Modi - BRICS Chairman in 2026, according to VNA.
This is one of Vietnam's important high-level multilateral foreign affairs activities in 2026.
With the role of a BRICS partner from June 2025, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung's participation in the 18th BRICS Summit in India is of great significance. This is an opportunity for Vietnam to continue to consolidate and deepen relations with India - the BRICS Chair in 2026 - as well as strengthen relations with member countries and BRICS partner countries.
In particular, the working trip takes place in the context that Vietnam - India relations have just been elevated to a Comprehensive and Strengthened Strategic Partnership, during the State visit of General Secretary and President To Lam to India in May. This is an important basis and motivation for the two countries to continue to promote bilateral relations to become more substantive, deeper and more effective, while expanding cooperation in multilateral frameworks.
It is expected that at the discussion session on the topic "Building resilient foundations, innovation, cooperation and sustainable development", Prime Minister Le Minh Hung will share Vietnam's vision, assessment and proposals on many major issues raised in international cooperation related to peace, promoting economic growth, sustainable development and solving global challenges.
Thereby, affirming the message that Vietnam wishes to work with BRICS member countries and partner countries as well as the international community to promote new growth drivers, strengthen connectivity and development cooperation, promote the voice and role of emerging economies and developing countries, towards a inclusive and sustainable development future with development achievements widely shared among all people.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung will also have a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of the host country Narendra Modi, along with contacts and meetings with leaders of countries, leaders of international organizations and local businesses, thereby contributing to consolidating friendly relations, strengthening political trust and promoting practical and effective cooperation in all fields.
