VNA reported that the 2025 BRICS Summit will continue on July 7 with a High-level Meeting on the topic "Environment, COP30 and Global Health" chaired by Brazilian President Lula da Silva, BRICS President in 2025.
In an important speech at the meeting, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh supported and highly appreciated the host country Brazil's choice to protect the environment and global health, issues that are of vital importance to the planet, and are the priority of this year's BRICS Summit.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has highlighted 5 important proposals.
First, promote the formation of a common awareness, a common approach that is global, all-people, and comprehensive to protect the environment and people's health.
Second, ensure the principle of common responsibility but there are differences, fairness, and justice in resolving environmental and health challenges, in accordance with the historical circumstances, development level and resources of each country; call on developed countries to be responsible for implementing commitments on finance, technology transfer, and supporting human resource training.
Third, strive to mobilize adequate and sustainable resources to realize climate and health goals. The Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam supports the priorities of the COP30 Conference proposed by Brazil, and emphasized the need for breakthrough results in climate finance at the COP30 Conference, encouraging green, creative financial mechanisms and stronger participation from the private sector.
Fourth, maximize the role of science and technology, innovation, digital technology to protect the environment, develop healthcare. Countries need to promote cooperation in developing green technology, digital infrastructure, and sharing knowledge, thereby narrowing the development gap between countries.
Fifth, promote substantive reforms and effective global governance institutions on environment, climate, and health, promote the central role of the United Nations, multilateral cooperation, enhance the substantive and effective participation of regional and inter-regional cooperation mechanisms, to ensure the implementation of global commitments on climate and health in a fair, transparent and effective manner.
The Prime Minister affirmed Vietnam's determination and strong efforts in completing the goal of carbon neutrality by 2050, while actively and responsibly contributing to global cooperation mechanisms on environment, climate and health.
The meeting concluded the 2025 BRICS Summit with many impressions of host country Brazil.
Vietnam has demonstrated its role, responsibility and actively contributed to the overall success of the Conference, thereby highlighting the image of a dynamic and consistent Vietnam in economic development associated with environmental protection, actively and proactively integrating internationally, for peace, cooperation and development of the region and globally.
