Within the framework of the official visit to the Republic of Estonia, on the afternoon of June 5 (local time), Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a meeting with Estonian National Assembly Chairman Lauri Hussar at the Estonian National Assembly headquarters.
National Assembly Chairman Lauri Hussar affirmed that Vietnam is one of Estonia's important partners in Southeast Asia and said that the visit is a good opportunity for the two countries to deepen cooperation in the coming time.
Expressing his delight at the positive development of bilateral relations in recent times, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh believes that the visit will contribute to creating a breakthrough, opening a new stage of development of the good traditional cooperative relationship, commensurate with the potential and cooperation between the two countries.
The two leaders agreed that the two countries need to increase contacts and delegation exchanges at all levels, further promote economic - trade - investment relations, especially in the context of many complicated developments in the world's political and economic situation. Vietnam is ready to create favorable conditions for Estonian enterprises to invest in Vietnam.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that the two sides soon establish a Friendship Parliamentarians' Group of the two countries' National Assemblies to promote the exchange of specific measures to enhance political trust and mutual understanding.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also suggested that the Estonian National Assembly support and promote the early establishment of a Vietnam - Estonia Joint Committee on Economic Cooperation, Science, Technology and Innovation; have a positive voice to urge the National Assemblies of some European Union (EU) to soon ratify the Vietnam - EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) to create new momentum for bilateral trade - investment cooperation.

For his part, National Assembly Chairman Lauri Hussar highly appreciated the Vietnam - Estonia relationship in general and the parliamentary relationship in particular for their active development and there is still much potential to exploit in the future.
National Assembly Chairman Lauri Hussar affirmed that Estonia wishes to expand relations with Southeast Asia and believes that the bridging role of Vietnam and Estonia as well as the good relationship between the two countries will be a catalyst to further motivate the EU - Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) cooperation in the coming time.
The two sides agreed to promote regular dialogue and delegation exchanges, strengthen cooperation and share information and experience in many fields, including the legislative field. The two sides agreed to support each other at inter-Parliamentary forums.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that the Estonian National Assembly create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community living and working in Estonia, continuing to be a bridge between the two peoples. The two sides also discussed a number of international and regional issues of mutual concern.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh conveyed the invitation to visit Vietnam by Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to Estonian National Assembly Chairman Lauri Hussar. The Estonian parliamentarians happily accepted.
