At noon on November 18 local time, right after successfully concluding the official visit to Kuwait, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, left Kuwait for an official visit to the Democratic People's Republic of Algeria at the invitation of Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb.
The Republic of Algeria is a traditional partner, one of the countries with the most deepest relations with Vietnam in the region, a loyal friend of Vietnam for more than 60 years of establishing diplomatic relations, always enthusiastically helping and supporting Vietnam in the cause of reconstruction and national construction.
Vietnam and Algeria established diplomatic relations in 1962, and have a strong, timeless political-diplomatic relationship, actively supporting each other at international forums, while the two countries have similar and appropriate models, development levels, and technology access. Bilateral relations are developing more and more effectively and substantially.
Algeria is currently a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2024-2025 term and is the third largest economy in Africa.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit to Algeria this time is of great significance in creating strong political momentum, promoting cooperation between the two countries to new heights, opening an era of extensive and dynamic cooperation.
This is also an opportunity for the two sides to discuss and sign new cooperation agreements, especially in areas where Vietnam and Algeria have strengths and needs to complement each other, such as energy, oil and gas, agriculture, mining, food processing and manufacturing industries.
The visit will also encourage businesses of the two countries to increase investment, expand markets and diversify import-export products; promote economic cooperation mechanisms, trade exchanges and joint venture projects.
