On the morning of April 4, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh led a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese Government to the Embassy of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in Hanoi to pay a visit to former Chairman of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, former President and former Prime Minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Khamtay Siphandone.
According to VNA, recording the condolences of comrade Khamtay Siphandone, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the passing of comrade Khamtay Siphandone is a great loss for the Lao Party, State and people.
The leaders and people of Vietnam also lost a great friend, a close comrade who always strived for the revolutionary cause of the two brotherly countries of Laos and Vietnam and the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos.

Comrade Khamtay Siphandone is an outstanding and steadfast leader and revolutionary who has devoted his entire life to the cause of the Lao revolution.
Appreciating the great contributions of Comrade Khamtay Siphandone to the relationship between Vietnam and Laos, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, on behalf of the Vietnamese Government, sent his deepest condolences to the leaders of the Lao Government and all of Comrade Khamtay Siphandone's family.
Previously, on April 3, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent a telegram to Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone expressing his condolences for the passing of Prime Minister Khamtay Siphandone - former Chairman of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, former President, former Prime Minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic from the death of his father on April 2, 2025.
