According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, around tonight (September 22), storm Ragasa will move into the East Sea (the ninth storm in the East Sea in 2025).
After entering the East Sea, the storm moved faster at a speed of about 20 km/h and maintained a maximum intensity of level 16-17, gusting above level 17 during September 22-23 in the East Sea (the wind is equivalent to and stronger than the maximum intensity of Typhoon Yagi in 2024), waves over 10m high, rough seas, especially dangerous for ships operating in the northern and central East Sea.
From September 24, the storm is likely to gradually decrease in intensity, from the night of September 24 to the early morning of September 25, the storm will cross Liuzhou Island (China) into the Gulf of Tonkin with the storm intensity still strong at level 12-14, gusting to level 15-16 and it is forecasted that on September 25, the storm can make landfall directly in our country in the area from Quang Ninh to Ha Tinh.
This is a very strong storm (now reaching super typhoon level and continuing to maintain super typhoon level in the next 2 days when operating in the East Sea), the range of strong winds is very wide, especially need to be on guard against thunderstorms before the storm directly affects.
The Prime Minister requested the Ministers of the Ministries of National Defense, Public Security, Agriculture and Environment, Construction, Industry and Trade, Science and Technology, Education and Training, Health; Secretaries and Chairmen of People's Committees of provinces and cities from Quang Ngai onwards not to be negligent, subjective in organizing monitoring, updating, and grasping the developments of storms and the situation in the locality.
Focus on leading, directing, reviewing, updating plans, being ready to immediately deploy response measures to super typhoon Ragasa with the most drastic spirit, early, from afar, proactively taking response measures at the highest level, anticipating the worst case scenario to ensure the safety of people's lives, limiting damage to people's and State's property, not being passive or surprised in any situation.
Secretaries and Chairmen of the People's Committees of coastal provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Quang Ngai, especially: Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Hung Yen, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Tri and Hue, postponed meetings that were not really necessary, mobilized the entire political system to participate, focused on leadership, direction, and urging the response to super typhoon Ragasa.
In particular, based on the specific situation of the risk and impact of the storm on localities, proactively decide to limit ships and means of transport to go to sea, operate at sea or ban the sea when necessary.
Support people to harvest agricultural products in the upcoming harvest period with the motto "green at home, more green in the fields" to limit damage caused by storms.
Review plans, forces and means to be ready to organize and deploy support for evacuation and relocation of people in unsafe areas before the storm directly affects and deploy response, rescue and relief work when bad situations occur.
The Ministries of National Defense and Public Security direct the implementation of safety assurance for military and police forces, vehicles and equipment.
Direct units stationed in areas at risk of being affected by Typhoon Ragasa to proactively review plans, arrange forces and means to be ready to support localities in implementing evacuation, relocation of residents, storm response, and rescue when required.
