Promoting Vietnam-China to strongly shift from trade to deep connection

The General Secretary and President wished to improve the effectiveness of substantive cooperation between Vietnam and China, shifting strongly from ordinary trade to deep connection.

On April 15, at the Great Hall of the People, Beijing, within the framework of the State visit to China, General Secretary and President Su Lin met with member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China Zhao Leji.

At the meeting, emphasizing the importance of building institutions and legislative work, General Secretary and President To Lam proposed to further deepen the exchange and friendly cooperation between the National Assembly of Vietnam and the People's Congress of China; continue to effectively implement the Cooperation Committee mechanism between the National Assembly of Vietnam and the People's Congress of China; strengthen delegation exchanges at all levels, promote delegation exchanges between the People's Congress/Local People's Councils, especially localities bordering the two countries; promote cooperation between specialized committees, group of friendly parliamentarians, group of female National Assembly deputies, group of young National Assembly deputies; support each other at regional and world inter-parliamentary forums.

General Secretary and President To Lam also wished that the establishing agencies of the two countries would strongly promote their role in law-making and supervision, contributing to further expanding and improving the effectiveness of substantive cooperation between the two sides, especially in the fields of diplomacy, defense, security, trade, investment, tourism, focusing on promoting trade cooperation to develop more balancedly, shifting strongly from ordinary trade to deep connection in economic linkages, supply chains, production chains, strengthening transport infrastructure connections, having special mechanisms for railway cooperation, ensuring energy security, and making scientific and technological cooperation a new bright spot...

General Secretary and President To Lam also requested the National Assembly of Vietnam and the National People's Congress of China to promote the role of elected bodies, representing the will and aspirations of the people in propaganda, strengthening mutual understanding; jointly promote control and better resolve disagreements at sea in accordance with international law, contributing to creating a peaceful and stable environment for the development of each country, and maintaining friendly feelings between the two sides.

Highly appreciating and agreeing with the important opinions of General Secretary and President To Lam on the development of relations between the two Parties and the two countries, as well as strengthening exchanges and cooperation between the National Assembly of Vietnam and the People's Congress of China, Chief Commissioner Zhao Leji affirmed that the People's Congress of China is ready to work with the National Assembly of Vietnam to further strengthen friendly exchanges and practical cooperation, respectfully inviting Politburo Member and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to visit China soon to co-chair the 2nd session of the Cooperation Committee between the two legislative bodies, thereby actively sharing experiences in law-making, supervision, jointly promoting the connection of development strategies between the two countries, strengthening cultural and educational cooperation, people-to-people exchanges, actively contributing to building a China-Vietnam Community of Shared Future with strategic significance.

Chief Commissioner Zhao Leji also introduced to General Secretary and President Su Lin some notable new laws of China, including the Ecological Environment Code, the Law on Promoting National Unity and Progress, and the Law on National Development Planning.
