At noon on May 28, at the International Convention Center, Hanoi, Politburo member and President Luong Cuong and his wife hosted a solemn reception with Hungarian President Sulyok Tamas and his wife.
President Luong Cuong stated that 75 years ago, Hungary was one of the first 10 countries in the world to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam and that great source of encouragement, during the most difficult time, helped Vietnam increase confidence in the inevitable victory of the just struggle.
The President affirmed that the Party, State and people of Vietnam always remember and are grateful for the valuable support and assistance that the Hungarian people have given to Vietnam during the years of arduous struggle for national independence and reunification in the past, as well as in the current construction and development process.
Looking back over the past 7 decades, the President expressed his delight at the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Hungary that are developing very positively in all fields.
The President said that he and President Sulyok Tamas had an open, friendly and effective meeting; agreed on major orientations and specific measures to promote bilateral cooperation to develop more strongly in all fields, bringing the Comprehensive Partnership increasingly in-depth, substantial and effective.
The President believes that on the basis of traditional friendship has been challenged in the past 75 years, with great potentials and prospects for cooperation, determination and joint efforts of leaders and people of the two countries, the comprehensive partnership of Vietnam - Hungary will develop strongly, for the benefit of the people of the two countries, for peace, stability and sustainable development in the region and the world.

In his opening speech, President Sulyok Tamas expressed his sincere thanks for the warm and friendly reception that the State and people of Vietnam have given the delegation, and for the wonderful results of the sincere, understanding, cooperative and spirit-building talks with President Luong Cuong.
President Sulyok Tamas affirmed that Vietnam is an important partner of Hungary in the fields of politics, science, culture, technology and economics; at the same time, he pointed out mutual respect and the achievements that both sides have jointly achieved are a solid foundation for this relationship.
The Hungarian leader emphasized that recent decades have proven that the two countries are sincere and trustworthy partners of each other and in the context of the current complex world situation, the stable bilateral cooperation relationship between Hungary and Vietnam has become more valuable than ever.
Assessing Vietnam's development in recent years as an example for many countries, President Sulyok Tamas said that Vietnam's economic and cultural achievements are all worthy of attracting attention.
President Sulyok Tamas believes that the friendly relationship has brought many fruits for Hungary and Vietnam to continue to develop and become closer; at the same time, he hopes to have the opportunity to welcome President Luong Cuong to Hungary to once again affirm the cooperation between the two countries.
