Continue to deepen the friendship between Vietnam and Thailand

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the King of Thailand emphasized that the closeness between the people of the two countries is the foundation for developing Vietnam-Thailand relations.

On the morning of September 15, at the National Assembly House, Politburo Member, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and Queen and the Royal Thai delegation on a state visit to Vietnam.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man emphasized the special significance of the visit right on the occasion of the two countries celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and in the context of Vietnam-Thailand relations developing strongly, substantively and comprehensively; expressed his belief that the visit is an important milestone, contributing to strengthening understanding and attachment between the people of the two countries, creating new momentum for the long-standing friendly relationship, important partnership between Vietnam and Thailand, and promoting the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries to develop more and more deeply.

The King of Thailand and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said that the two countries have many similarities in history, culture, social life and have many favorable conditions to strengthen exchanges and share experiences; emphasizing that the closeness between the people of the two countries is an important foundation to bring Vietnam - Thailand cooperation relations to sustainable development.

Sharing about the importance of people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, the King of Thailand and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man agreed to encourage strengthening exchanges between localities, youth, friendship associations, expanding cultural, artistic, sports and tourism exchange activities; emphasizing the need to create more direct exchange opportunities to help the young generations of the two countries interact, learn and understand more about each other's country and culture, about the history of relations between the two countries, thereby continuing to deepen the Vietnam-Thailand friendship that has been nurtured over the past 50 years.

The King of Thailand and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man also exchanged views on the continued expansion of educational cooperation, student exchange, lecturers, and scholars of the two countries.

The National Assembly Chairwoman hoped that the King of Thailand would continue to pay attention to and support cooperation activities between the legislative bodies of the two countries; including maintaining delegation exchanges at all levels, strengthening contacts between specialized agencies and parliamentary groups, sharing experiences in law-making, supervision and policy planning, contributing to building a favorable, transparent, and stable legal environment, thereby effectively supporting the implementation of agreements signed by the Governments of the two countries, creating conditions for businesses of the two countries to feel secure in expanding cooperation.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man also requested the National Assemblies of the two sides to continue to strengthen close coordination at regional and international parliamentary forums, especially in issues of common concern, contributing to promoting peace, cooperation, sustainable development and strengthening ASEAN's role.

The King of Thailand highly appreciated the role of the two Parliaments in creating a legal framework and favorable environment for cooperation between the two countries; and said that strengthening contact between legislative bodies, localities and social organizations will help the two sides better understand the actual needs of people and businesses, thereby promoting more practical cooperation.
