Major General Pham Van Ty emphasized the spirit of searching for victims in the earthquake in Myanmar as the search for his relatives.

On March 31, the Ministry of National Defense said that after arriving at Yangon International Airport on the evening of March 30, Vietnamese forces participating in supporting the recovery of the consequences of the earthquake in Myanmar traveled by car for nearly 500km to the capital Naypyidaw at more than 3am on March 31.

Immediately after arriving in Naypyidaw, Major General Pham Van Ty - Deputy Director of the Department of Rescue - Relief (Ministry of General Staff), Head of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) delegation participating in supporting the recovery of earthquake consequences in Myanmar - said that this morning, the delegation will work with the Myanmar coordination committee to agree on the professional requirements, content of methods and methods of organizing search and rescue.

According to your announcement, the group is expected to travel to Mandalay city, about 200km from the capital Naypyidaw, because this is an area of heavy damage and human resources, in which many victims are still trapped under the rubble.

Major General Pham Van Ty added that immediately after arriving in Mandalay, the Vietnamese rescue forces will quickly stabilize their accommodation, organize local reconnaissance forces, determine their determination and organize the search for the victims.

The Vietnam People's Army delegation will be divided into 3 teams to follow 3 search directions in the fastest possible spirit, in order to minimize damage, loss and pain for the country and people of Myanmar.

"With a determined spirit, the forces in the working group did not mind the difficulties and hardships. Currently, the rescue team of the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security is present in Myanmar ready to receive and carry out tasks after discussing and agreeing with the friends", Major General Pham Van Ty affirmed.

Previously, speaking to the press, Major General Pham Van Ty said that, drawing on experience in performing search, rescue and relief tasks after earthquake disasters in Turkey in 2023, the forces deployed this time have more experience in organizing, commanding and operating relief activities, coordinating with international relief forces, as well as handling emergency situations and arising situations.

According to Major General Pham Van Ty, Vietnam sent its most elite forces to provide earthquake relief in Myanmar. The Vietnamese force performed the task with heavy equipment such as excavators and bulldozers. The top priority task is to search and rescue the victims trapped in the rubble in areas devastated by the earthquake.

"The search for victims in the rubble is to search for our relatives in the working group. We identify this as the sentiment, responsibility, and position of our country and people" - Major General Pham Van Ty emphasized.
