This information was given by Mr. Huynh Quoc Viet - Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Bac Lieu Provincial Party Committee - at a preliminary meeting of the first quarter of 2025 of the Bac Lieu Provincial Party Committee.

The leaders of Bac Lieu province also said that the Central Government is oriented to merge Bac Lieu province and Ca Mau province into one, end the district-level administrative unit and reorganize the administrative unit of the commune, ward and town. After the arrangement, Bac Lieu still has 32 wards and communes.
