General Secretary and President attends the Fatherland Front Congress

General Secretary and President To Lam and many Party and State leaders attended the solemn opening session of the 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

This morning (October 17), the solemn opening session of the 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front for the 2024-2029 term took place in Hanoi. General Secretary and President To Lam attended the Congress.

Attending the opening session were Politburo members: Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man; Standing member of the Secretariat Luong Cuong; Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Do Van Chien.

Also attending were members of the Politburo, members of the Secretariat, members of the Party Central Committee; representatives of central departments, ministries, branches and organizations. Notably, the Congress was attended by 1,052 official delegates, representing classes, strata of people, ethnic groups, religions, armed forces, overseas Vietnamese and cadres of the Fatherland Front at all levels.

With the theme "Solidarity - Democracy - Innovation - Creativity - Development", the Congress is tasked with comprehensively assessing the situation and results of the implementation of the Resolution of the 9th Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front for the 2019-2024 term, and setting out the directions, goals and action programs of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in the new term.

During the morning session, delegates will listen to the opening speech of the Congress, a political summary report of the Congress and directive speeches from Party and State leaders.

Previously, on the afternoon of October 16, the 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, term 2024-2029, held its first working session.

The Congress conducted consultations to elect a Congress Presidium consisting of 55 delegates; of which 51 delegates were consulted and 4 Party and State leaders were invited to join the Presidium, including General Secretary and President To Lam; Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man; and Standing member of the Secretariat Luong Cuong.
