Continuing the state visit to China, on the evening of April 16, 2026, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, along with the high-level Vietnamese delegation, arrived in Nanning city after about 10 hours by high-speed train from Beijing.
In Nanning city, General Secretary and President To Lam met with Comrade Tran Cuong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
Nanning, the capital of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, is a dynamic development center of southern China and an important focal point to promote cooperation with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), in which Vietnam is a key partner.
In recent years, Nam Ninh has achieved many outstanding achievements in socio-economics, maintained stable growth rates, and the economic structure shifted towards modernity, with high-quality service industries and advanced technology industries playing a key role.
The city is also promoting a development strategy based on innovation, in which the construction of the China - ASEAN Artificial Intelligence (AI) Innovation Cooperation Center is prominent.
Through the center, Nanning promotes connections between businesses, research institutes and universities of China with ASEAN countries, including Vietnam, contributing to the formation of a regionally linked innovation ecosystem.
In parallel with technology development, Nanning continues to promote its role as a gateway connecting China - ASEAN through multilateral cooperation mechanisms, international forums and large-scale trade fairs. In which, cooperation with Vietnam is increasingly going deeper and more substantive.
Notably, Nanning is also a location that preserves many "red addresses" associated with the history of Vietnamese revolution, contributing to deepening the foundation of traditional friendship between the two countries.
