General Secretary, President expects Mumbai to open a breakthrough cooperation direction for Vietnam - India

On May 7, in Mumbai, India, General Secretary and President To Lam received Maharashtra State Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Prime Minister Devendra Fadnavis warmly welcomed and expressed her honor to welcome General Secretary and President To Lam and the high-level Vietnamese delegation to visit Maharashtra state, the financial and commercial center of India.

Introducing the strengths and potentials of the state, the Prime Minister wished Vietnamese businesses to invest more in fields such as pharmaceuticals, agriculture, tourism, infrastructure and soon have direct flights between Maharashtra state and Ho Chi Minh City.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the two localities that have twinned are the two growth engines of the two countries, with great potential in economic and trade cooperation, smart cities, startups, tourism and need to soon establish a joint working group to implement cooperation.

The Prime Minister welcomed Vingroup's signing of a large-scale cooperation agreement with the Maharashtra State Government in many fields, considering this a vivid proof of the great cooperation potential between the two sides and proposing that the two sides organize an annual rotating business forum.

General Secretary and President To Lam highly appreciated Maharashtra State's active coordination in organizing the Vietnam - India Business Forum, thereby creating an effective connecting space, opening up many practical cooperation opportunities in trade and investment between the business communities of the two countries.

The General Secretary and President highly appreciated the cooperation ideas between Maharashtra state and Ho Chi Minh City and affirmed that even if the world is changing, looking back at the history of the two countries' relations and 10 years of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with many achievements, we can be proud that the relationship between the two countries is increasingly strong, bringing benefits to the two countries, for peace, stability, and development of the region.

Appreciating the potentials and strengths of Maharashtra state, General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized that this place is not only a gathering place for large corporations, financial centers and leading stock markets, but also an important international trade gateway and a vibrant cultural and entertainment center, associated with the globally famous Bollywood film industry.

The General Secretary and President affirmed that although Mumbai is the final stop in this visit to India, it is of particular importance, where it is expected to open up breakthrough cooperation directions, creating new momentum for the Vietnam - India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership after a decade of development.

Prime Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed special concern for the sharing of the General Secretary and President about Vietnam's development orientation. The Prime Minister committed that the Government of Maharashtra state will continue to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese businesses to invest and do long-term business here.

General Secretary and President To Lam highly appreciated the fact that Ho Chi Minh City and Mumbai are the first pair of localities to establish twinning relations; believing that this is not only an agreement between two major economic centers, but also a connection between two dynamic development ecosystems, capable of long-term mutual support in the multi-layered cooperation structure between the two countries; affirming the determination to strengthen exchanges and promote substantive cooperation between localities of the two countries.
