According to VNA, on September 22 (local time), in New York, within the framework of his working trip to attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly and bilateral activities in the US, General Secretary and President To Lam had meetings with Fiji President Ratu Lalabavalu, Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
At the meeting, Fiji President Ratu Lalabavalu expressed his impression of the comprehensive achievements that Vietnam has achieved in the past time; saying that the two countries have a lot of potential to develop relations in many fields.
General Secretary and President To Lam shared the opinions of President Ratu Lalabavalu, requesting the two countries to strengthen delegation exchanges, high-level and all-level contacts; and at the same time promote cooperation in agricultural development, fisheries, sustainable renewable energy, emission reduction, and climate change adaptation.
The two Leaders highly appreciated the good coordination between the two countries at multilateral forums such as the United Nations, the interparliamentary forum of which the two countries are members; emphasized that the two countries will continue to cooperate closely and support each other in the coming time.
At the meeting with Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, the Thai Prime Minister thanked Vietnam for warm and thoughtful reception of the King of Thailand and the Queen during their recent visit to Vietnam. The Thai Prime Minister affirmed that the visit was very successful and the two sides still have much room to promote cooperation in various fields.
General Secretary and President To Lam highly appreciated the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Thailand, and agreed to continue to promote the relationship between the two sides to become deeper, more effective, and substantive.
The two Leaders agreed to continue to closely coordinate on the multilateral diplomatic front in the coming time, especially ASEAN and the United Nations.
At the meeting with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, the Australian Prime Minister highly appreciated the results achieved during the State visit of General Secretary and President To Lam to Australia in August, especially the fact that the two sides clearly identified the important driving pillars of the Vietnam - Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the new period.
General Secretary and President To Lam agreed to continue to promote extensive cooperation between the two sides into a new stage of development, meeting the needs of each side and making substantive contributions to peace, cooperation and development in the region and in the world.
