On June 11, in Hanoi, the Politburo and the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee organized a national conference to study, study, thoroughly grasp and implement Resolution No. 06-NQ/TW dated May 19, 2026 of the Politburo on deploying the foreign policy guidelines of the 14th Party Congress.
The conference was held in a direct format at Dien Hong Hall, National Assembly House. General Secretary and President To Lam attended and delivered directing speeches at the Conference.
Also attending the conference were Politburo members: Prime Minister Le Minh Hung; National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man; Standing Secretary of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu; senior leaders of the Party and State, Politburo members, Secretariat members, members of the Party Central Committee and 800 delegates who are leaders of departments, ministries, branches, Vietnam Fatherland Front, central mass organizations, representatives of many localities, agencies, and units in the political system.
Speaking to direct at the Conference, General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized that Resolution No. 06-NQ/TW is of particular importance, and is one of the strategic Resolutions of the Politburo.
General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized that entering a new era of national development, Vietnam's foreign affairs shows a change in thinking, clearly shown by major arguments that shape ideology.
General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized that foreign affairs work in the coming time will focus on 5 major orientations:
First, promote the pioneering role in maintaining a peaceful and stable environment, creating a favorable international situation for the country.
Second, making foreign affairs a driving force to open up a new development space, organicly linked to the country's socio-economic development process, contributing to attracting external resources and favorable conditions to serve the country's rapid and sustainable development.
Third, proactively participate and contribute responsibly to solving common problems of the international community, enhancing Vietnam's role and position in multilateral mechanisms.
Fourth, elevate the national position to be commensurate with the historical stature, cultural identity, and position of the country, making positive contributions to human civilization.
Fifth, build a comprehensive, modern, professional diplomacy, on par with strategic tasks in the new era, contributing to the successful implementation of the country's development goals to the middle of the 21st century.
In that spirit, General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized the motto "understand deeply, do right, do thoroughly, do effectively", requesting departments, ministries, branches, and localities nationwide to thoroughly grasp and urgently concretize the Resolution into action programs and work plans.
The General Secretary and President also directed that it is necessary to strongly innovate the inter-sectoral and inter-field mechanisms between the Central Government and localities, promote the consolidation of the directing apparatus, and effectively coordinate the implementation of the Resolution.
The General Secretary and President deeply believe that with high political determination, with the involvement of the entire political system, Resolution 06 will soon come into life so that foreign affairs can promote its pioneering role and key and regular tasks, contributing to building a developed, independent, self-reliant and self-strengthening Vietnam in the new period.
