At the invitation of General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping and his wife, on April 14, 2026, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam To Lam and his wife Ngo Phuong Ly and the high-level Vietnamese delegation left Hanoi for a state visit to China from April 14-17, 2026.

This is the first state visit of General Secretary and President To Lam in his position as the highest leader of the Party and State, taking place exactly one year after the state visit to Vietnam by General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping (from April 14-15, 2025), and also the third time in a short period of less than two years, the two highest leaders of the two Parties and two countries have conducted bilateral visits.
