The General Secretary suggested that US businesses expand investment in Vietnam

General Secretary To Lam suggested that US businesses continue to pay attention to, enhance and expand investment in Vietnam.

On the afternoon of March 18, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam received a delegation of businesses from the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) led by President and General Director of USABC Ted Osius, former US Ambassador to Vietnam.

At the meeting, the General Secretary welcomed the USABC business delegation to work in Vietnam on the occasion of the two countries celebrating the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations and the 2nd anniversary of upgrading the relationship to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

The General Secretary highly appreciated the role and practical contributions of the US business community in general and USABC businesses in particular in promoting increased cooperation, investment and business between Vietnam and the US.

The General Secretary affirmed that Vietnam considers the US a partner of strategic importance, in which economic, trade, investment and scientific and technological cooperation continue to be the foundation and driving force to promote bilateral relations; hopes to continue to implement the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with the US in an increasingly practical and in-depth manner, in which it continues to promote economic - trade - investment cooperation for stable development, for the benefit of the people and businesses of the two countries, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and prosperous development in the region and the world.

The General Secretary emphasized that the development of Vietnam-US relations has a positive impact on the development of US relations with ASEAN, suggesting that USABC accompany ASEAN countries, promote the consolidation of solidarity, cooperation, development and prosperity of ASEAN, a large market with great potential, which is also an opportunity for businesses of other countries, including the US.

The General Secretary shared that to implement the country's two strategic goals: 100 years of Party foundation (2030) and 100 years of founding the country (2045), Vietnam is actively implementing reforms and perfecting institutions and infrastructure, streamlining the apparatus to operate effectively, efficiently and efficiently, reforming administrative procedures to facilitate foreign enterprises, including US enterprises, to invest and do business effectively in Vietnam.

Emphasizing the importance of science and technology for Vietnam's development, the General Secretary suggested that US businesses continue to pay attention to, increase and expand investment in Vietnam, especially in areas where the US has strengths and Vietnam has needs such as emerging technology, digital economy, green transformation, renewable energy, logistics, etc.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman and General Director of the US - ASEAN Ted Ocius Business Council and representatives of US businesses sincerely thanked and expressed their honor to receive the delegation from the General Secretary; and congratulated Vietnam on its socio-economic development achievements in recent years.

Mr. Ted Osius and representatives of the corporations affirmed their efforts to contribute to the development of Vietnam - US relations; expressed their gratitude for the attention and close direction of senior Vietnamese leaders in recent times; believed that under the leadership and strategic vision of General Secretary To Lam and Vietnamese and Vietnamese leaders, Vietnam will achieve the set development goals; affirmed that they will continue to support and accompany Vietnam to achieve development goals in the new era.
