General Secretary To Lam receives Chairman of Pacifico Energy Group

On the afternoon of March 14, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam received Mr. Nate Franklin, founder and Chairman of Pacifico Energy Group (PE), USA.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the General Secretary welcomed and highly appreciated the practical and effective contributions of PE Group as well as Mr. Nate Franklin personally to the development of Vietnam in the field of renewable energy and the development of Vietnam - US relations.

The General Secretary affirmed that the US is one of Vietnam's leading important economic partners, the framework of the Vietnam - US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership is creating new space and opportunities for US businesses to invest and do business in Vietnam.

The General Secretary shared the vision and determination of the Party, State and people of Vietnam to achieve development goals, becoming a developing country with modern industry, high average income by 2030, and a developed country with high income by 2045; emphasized that the Party and Government of Vietnam will continue to create favorable conditions, including institutional reform, for domestic and foreign investors to do business effectively in Vietnam. Vietnam will continue to commit to the goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050.

The General Secretary emphasized that to achieve those growth goals, Vietnam needs a stable source of electricity, especially clean electricity. The Vietnamese Government and ministries and branches have actively completed the legal framework for energy groups with facilities to participate in investing in Vietnam, thereby not only meeting the growth needs of Vietnam but also in Southeast Asia.

The General Secretary suggested that the PE Group continue to expand cooperation and business investment in Vietnam, including new energy conversion projects, speed up the implementation of projects in the process of implementation; suggested that the PE Group strengthen cooperation with enterprises in Vietnam, promote technology transfer, support and share experiences with Vietnamese partners to improve capacity and qualifications in developing wind energy and renewable energy.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nate Franklin sincerely thanked the General Secretary for taking the time to receive the delegation, highly appreciated the instructions of senior Vietnamese leaders on improving the investment and business environment, as well as the active and effective support of Vietnamese ministries, branches and localities for US businesses; expressed confidence that under the leadership and strategic vision of General Secretary To Lam and the leaders of Vietnam and Vietnam, the set development goals will be achieved.

Mr. Nate Franklin informed the General Secretary about PE's projects in Vietnam; affirmed that Vietnam has great potential for offshore wind power development and currently PE Group is promoting the survey and construction of offshore wind power projects in Vietnam to help Vietnam aim for double-digit growth in the coming time.

Mr. Nate Franklin emphasized that the success of PE's projects in Vietnam is the most concrete demonstration of the Vietnam - US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, hoping that this will be the foundation to attract more US businesses to invest in Vietnam.

Mr. Nate Franklin pledged to continue investing more in wind power and renewable energy in Vietnam to contribute to promoting rapid and sustainable economic growth of Vietnam as well as contributing to the development of Vietnam - US relations.
