Data is the "blood" of the digital economy
This morning (March 22), in Hanoi, the National Data Association officially launched and successfully organized the First National Congress of Delegates, term I (2025 - 2030).
Speaking at the congress, General Secretary To Lam said that we are entering the dawn of the digital age and data plays an important role, even the "blood" of the digital economy.

According to the General Secretary, digital transformation with data as the center is fundamentally changing the way we live, work and develop. The opportunities and challenges of the digital age are equal for us.
"There are many opportunities and many challenges. Our task, especially the comrades and friends sitting here, of the National Data Society at this time is to reduce challenges, leaning towards opportunities, increasing opportunities..." - the General Secretary emphasized.
According to General Secretary To Lam, our Party and State have soon recognized the importance of data for the digital economy and have proactively issued strategic orientations for development, perfecting the legal framework on data, governance, connection and data sharing.
Speaking about data, the General Secretary suggested that the Association pay attention to 3 very important contents.
First, it is to ensure high-quality data. "There is a lot of data, but the problem is data quality, high data quality. This is a new technology industry" - the General Secretary said.
The second thing is to connect data. Data without connection will not have much meaning, not create power.
The third thing that the General Secretary mentioned is the need for data security. Data is a resource, if it is not secured, there will be risks.
These are important tasks that the National Data Association and management agencies must do to effectively promote data to serve the development of the country.
On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam suggested that the Association as well as ministries and branches study and propose a legal corridor on data, creating conditions for sharing and maximizing data exploitation and ensuring data security and safety.
General Secretary To Lam also proposed building and developing a national data source, focusing on essential issues. Along with that is proactive, mastering, moving towards autonomy of core data technologies, especially artificial intelligence, big data, blockchain, cloud computing.
Building a national open artificial intelligence platform
On this occasion, the General Secretary also especially emphasized the role of the National Data Association in programs and initiatives, developing the data market for sustainable development, building a national data market, deploying a data exchange on research and development of startups, innovation, providing products and services related to the digital economy and society.
It is necessary to build a national open artificial intelligence platform, helping businesses to easily access and apply artificial intelligence. Quickly popularize knowledge about data to all people, improve awareness, knowledge and skills for the whole society - the General Secretary emphasized.

The General Secretary suggested that the Association continue to enhance the autonomy of the data industry, prioritize, encourage, and create mechanisms for "Made in Vietnam" data products to be able to compete fairly with the international market.
The General Secretary also suggested that it is necessary to promote the construction of advanced data infrastructure.
In the Association's tasks, the General Secretary also emphasized the need to strengthen international cooperation, how to have regulations to attract resources. In addition, build implementation mechanisms for state agencies to play a leading role; build a product protection system and data security.
With the importance of national data, General Secretary To Lam emphasized that the Party and State will create all favorable conditions, provide maximum support for the development of the data sector, so that Vietnam can soon become a digital nation, a digital society, and a prosperous digital economy.
