Within the framework of the State visit to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and attending the 80th anniversary of the founding of the DPRK, on the morning of October 10 (local time), General Secretary To Lam and the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation attended the inauguration ceremony of President Ho Chi Minh's statue in the grounds of the Vietnamese Embassy in DPRK.

Also attending on the North Korean side were Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Organization Committee of the North Korean Labor Party Cho Yong Won and representatives of a number of ministries and branches of North Korea.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to North Korea Le Ba Vinh emphasized that President Ho Chi Minh is a beloved leader of the Vietnamese people, a national liberation hero, an outstanding cultural figure, and a close friend of the North Korean people.

The inauguration of the President Ho Chi Minh statue and its placement in the grounds of the Vietnamese Embassy in North Korea is the joy not only of the Vietnamese people but also of the North Korean people because during the construction process, it always receives favorable support from agencies, departments, branches and people of North Korea.

Ambassador Le Ba Vinh said that Vietnam and North Korea established diplomatic relations 75 years ago. On January 31, 1950, the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam) and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea officially established diplomatic relations.

The traditional friendship between the two Parties and the two countries was personally built by President Ho Chi Minh and President Kim Nhat Thanh.

Since then, the traditional friendship between the two countries has always been valued by the two Parties, two States and peoples, constantly being consolidated and developed.

The two sides maintain mutual support and assistance in the cause of national liberation and socialist construction in each country.

In 1957, President Ho Chi Minh made an official friendly visit to North Korea and during this visit, President Ho Chi Minh affirmed that although the country and North Korea have a long journey, their hearts are very close, although thousands of miles apart, they are close as brothers.

On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam and Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Organization Committee of the Korean Labor Party Cho Yong Won cut the ribbon to inaugurate a statue of President Ho Chi Minh in the grounds of the Vietnamese Embassy in North Korea.
