
Speaking at the ceremony, General Secretary To Lam reviewed the important historical milestones of the industry: since the Professional Traffic Department was established in Tan Trao; the "All-state resistance war" telegram issued from the Bo Ho Post Office; to the great sacrifices of tens of thousands of post officers and soldiers to maintain the "blood of information" in the two resistance wars. At the same time, many scientists and engineers have worked day and night to research and manufacture weapons, medicine, and production tools, directly contributing to the victory of the revolution.
Entering the period of innovation, the General Secretary affirmed that the Posts and Telecommunications sector has pioneered the bringing of the Internet to Vietnam, opening up a global connection space; the Science and Technology sector has achieved many outstanding achievements in agriculture, healthcare, energy, contributing to making the country from poor to the 4th largest economy in Southeast Asia, deeply integrated into the global value chain.
The General Secretary emphasized that the merger of the two sectors of Posts and Telecommunications and Science and Technology into the Ministry of Science and Technology (MTS) is a strategic decision, helping to unify focal points, resonate resources, and effectively implement Resolution 57 of the Politburo. The General Secretary requested the Ministry of Science and Technology to focus on taking drastic action, concretizing the Resolution with practical results, and spreading strongly throughout society.
The three key pillars identified by the General Secretary include: Completing institutions and a favorable environment to encourage innovation, protecting those who dare to think and dare to do; Developing core technology, digital infrastructure and key industries such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, nuclear energy; Mobilizing resources, promoting talents, taking businesses as the center of the innovation ecosystem.

General Secretary To Lam called on the entire industry to strongly promote the patriotic emulation movement, each unit, each scientist, each enterprise must have practical initiatives, works, and products, contributing to socio-economic development and improving people's lives.
Our country is facing a historic fate. Science - technology, innovation and digital transformation are not only options, but are the survival path for rapid and sustainable development. This is the golden key to realizing the aspiration for a strong and prosperous Vietnam by 2045 - the General Secretary emphasized.
On the occasion, the General Secretary sent the entire industry 10 words: "Self-control - Intelligence - Technology - Breakthrough - Integration" as an orientation message, affirming the pioneering mission of science and technology in the new era.
