General Secretary To Lam will pay a state visit to North Korea and attend the 80th anniversary of the founding of the North Korean Labor Party.

The announcement of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the morning of October 6 said: At the invitation of General Secretary of the North Korean Labor Party, President of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam will pay a state visit to North Korea and attend the 80th anniversary of the founding of the North Korean Labor Party from October 9 to 11, 2025.

On the occasion of the 77th National Day of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (September 9, 1945 - September 9, 2025), General Secretary To Lam; Politburo member and President Luong Cuong sent a joint congratulatory message to General Secretary and President of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Kim Jong Un; Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent a congratulatory message to Prime Minister of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Pak Thae Song.

In a congratulatory message, senior leaders of Vietnam congratulated the important achievements that the Party, State and People of North Korea have achieved over the past 77 years; were pleased with the progress of Vietnam - North Korea relations after President Kim Jong Un's official visit to Vietnam in March 2019; expressed their desire to continue developing the relationship between the two Parties and the two countries more substantially and effectively, in line with the interests of the people of the two countries, contributing to maintaining peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (January 31, 1950 - January 31, 2025), on January 31, 2025, General Secretary To Lam and Politburo member and President Luong Cuong exchanged congratulatory messages with General Secretary and President of the Korean National Assembly Kim Jong Un; Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh exchanged congratulatory messages with Prime Minister of the DPRK Pak Thae Song; Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man exchanged congratulatory messages with President of the Supreme People's Conference of North Korea Pak In Chol.

The congratulatory messages from the Vietnamese leaders to the North Korean leaders affirmed that in the 75 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the traditional friendship between Vietnam and North Korea, built by President Ho Chi Minh and President Kim Nhat Thanh personally, and nurtured by generations of leaders and people of the two countries, has continuously developed.

The Party, State and People of Vietnam always attach importance to and wish to promote cooperation with the DPRK to develop more strongly and substantially in many fields, in line with the aspirations of the people of the two countries and international commitments of each country, contributing to maintaining peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world; at the same time, expressing confidence that the two sides will coordinate to effectively implement the activities to celebrate the "Vietnam - DPRK Friendship Year 2025" with meaningful exchange and cooperation activities.

The content of the congratulatory message from the North Korean leaders to the Vietnamese leaders emphasized that the decision of the two countries of North Korea and Vietnam to consider 2025 as the "Year of Friendship" is in line with the common orientation and aspirations of the people of the two countries; firmly believing that the long-standing friendship and cooperation between North Korea and Vietnam will be continuously strengthened and developed, thereby encouraging and strongly promoting the socialist cause of the two countries.
