On the afternoon of October 1, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam received President of the Cuban National Assembly Esteban Lazo Hernandez.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the meeting, General Secretary To Lam affirmed that Vietnam will always stand side by side with Cuba to continue to strengthen the exemplary brotherhood, solidarity, closeness and loyalty between the Party, State and people of the two countries.
General Secretary To Lam emphasized the determination of the Party, State and people of Vietnam in further consolidating and enhancing the special friendship, traditional solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba; affirmed that the relationship between the two Parties is a political foundation and orientation for the development of bilateral cooperation in all fields.
The General Secretary suggested that the Cuban National Assembly continue to prioritize supporting economic - trade - investment cooperation and investment, creating favorable conditions for agricultural cooperation projects, renewable energy, biotechnology - pharmaceuticals, practically serving the development of both countries.
General Secretary To Lam suggested that the two sides coordinate to increase the exchange of theoretical and practical experiences, especially in the context of Vietnam organizing the 14th National Party Congress and Cuba organizing the 9th National Party Congress in 2026.
National Assembly Chairman Esteban Lazo Hernandez affirmed that Cuba attaches great importance to referring to and absorbing Vietnam's practical experience in the work of Innovation and building socialism, especially in the process of preparing for the 9th Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba in 2026.
The President of the Cuban National Assembly informed General Secretary To Lam about the positive results of the talks and the Second Session of the Vietnam - Cuba Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee chaired by the two National Assembly Chairmen within the framework of this official visit to Vietnam.
President Esteban Lazo Hernandez expressed his gratitude for Vietnam's support and assistance to Cuba in the current difficult period, most recently demonstrated through a widespread fundraising campaign among the Vietnamese people to support Cuba.
He also highly appreciated the results of Vietnam's support and cooperation in improving agricultural production capacity towards ensuring food security for Cuba, implementing renewable energy projects, producing consumer goods in Cuba, joint ventures in biotechnology - pharmaceuticals, as well as contributing to the development of Cuba's economy through investment projects in the Mariel Special Economic Zone and Cuban localities.
President Esteban Lazo Hernandez affirmed that the Party, State and National Assembly of Cuba always care about and facilitate Vietnamese businesses to do business and invest in Cuba and believe that they will attract more Vietnamese businesses to Cuba.
General Secretary To Lam welcomed and highly appreciated the proposals of the President of the Cuban National Assembly in strengthening cooperation between ministries, branches, localities, and socio-political organizations of the two countries, coordinating in directing education, propaganda, and enhancing understanding among the people and young generations of the two countries about the special relationship between Vietnam and Cuba.
