Within the framework of the official visit to the Republic of Bulgaria, on the afternoon of October 23 (local time), in the capital Sofia, General Secretary To Lam received Chairman of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) Atanas Zafirov and representatives of Bulgarian left-wing parties.
According to VNA, Chairman of the Socialist Party of Bulgaria Atanas Zafirov warmly welcomed General Secretary To Lam's official visit to Bulgaria; expressed his good feelings for the country and people of Vietnam and admired the socio-economic development achievements that Vietnam has achieved after nearly 40 years of Doi Moi under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
President of the Socialist Party of Bulgaria Atanas Zafirov emphasized that General Secretary To Lam's visit to upgrade relations to a Strategic Partnership is a historic turning point in the relationship between the two countries; affirmed that the Socialist Party of Bulgaria and the leftist parties of Bulgaria always support the strengthening of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
General Secretary To Lam thanked the Chairman of the BSP Party and the leaders of the left wing parties of Bulgaria for the deep friendship delegation; affirmed that the Communist Party of Vietnam attaches importance to continuing to strengthen relations with the BSP Party and the left wing parties of Bulgaria, considering this an inseparable part of the Vietnam - Bulgaria relationship.
On this occasion, the General Secretary thanked the communists and people of Bulgaria for their valuable support and assistance in the cause of national liberation and development of Vietnam; and wished to continue to strengthen cooperation between the two Parties to contribute to the development of relations between the two countries.
Appreciating the role and position of the BSP Party and left-wing parties as a prestigious political force in Bulgarian politics, as well as the prestige of the current Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Zafirov in the ruling coalition government, General Secretary To Lam affirmed that the Communist Party of Vietnam wishes to promote the friendship and good cooperation with Bulgarian policies, including the BSP Party and left-wing parties of Bulgaria, to consolidate the political foundation for the strategic partnership between the two countries to develop strongly in the future.
The two sides agreed to strengthen political dialogue, promote delegation exchanges at all levels, especially at high levels, in line with the new framework of relations; promote cooperation between agencies of the two Parties, promote theoretical exchanges such as organizing scientific seminars and forums; strengthen cooperation in training cadres, fostering political theory, enhancing youth exchanges to continue the tradition of friendship...
On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam invited BSP Party Chairman Atanas Zafirov to lead a high-ranking delegation of the Party to soon visit Vietnam.
