Myanmar President and First Lady conclude official visit to Vietnam

Leaders of Vietnam and Myanmar agreed to bring the Comprehensive Partnership and Cooperation relationship into a new stage of development, increasingly deeper and more substantive.

On the afternoon of September 6, President of the Federal Republic of Myanmar Min Aung Hlaing and his wife Kyu Kyu Hla left Hanoi, successfully concluding their official visit to Vietnam from June 4-6, 2026, at the invitation of General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife.

Within the framework of the visit, President Min Aung Hlaing and his wife Kyu Kyu Hla and the high-level Myanmar delegation laid wreaths and visited President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum; laid wreaths at the Monument to Heroic Martyrs (Bac Son Street, Hanoi).

General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife chaired the solemn welcoming ceremony for President of the Federal Republic of Myanmar Min Aung Hlaing and his wife on an official visit to Vietnam. Following that, the two leaders had talks.

General Secretary and President To Lam and Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly hosted a reception to welcome President Min Aung Hlaing and Mrs. Kyu Kyu Hla on their official visit to Vietnam.

Politburo Member, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and Politburo Member, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man had meetings with President Min Aung Hlaing.

At the talks and meetings, Vietnamese leaders warmly welcomed President Min Aung Hlaing and the high-level delegation of Myanmar on an official visit to Vietnam; affirmed that the visit is of great significance, taking place in the context of the traditional friendly relations and Comprehensive Cooperation Partnership between Vietnam and Myanmar taking new steps, contributing to consolidating political trust, creating motivation to promote cooperative relations between the two countries to develop more and more substantively and effectively, for the benefit of the people of the two countries, for the development of the two countries, contributing to peace, stability and development in the region.

In a friendly and open atmosphere, the leaders of the two countries exchanged views on the situation of each country and the areas of cooperation in bilateral relations; agreed to continue to consolidate political trust through strengthening delegation exchanges and high-level contacts at all levels through Party, State, Government, National Assembly channels and people-to-people exchanges.

Regarding regional and international issues of common concern, the leaders of the two countries agreed to strengthen exchanges at regional and international cooperation mechanisms, including ASEAN and Mekong Subregion mechanisms.

Leaders of the two countries agreed to direct relevant agencies of the two countries to closely coordinate so that Myanmar can successfully assume the role of Chairman at the upcoming ACMECS Summit held in Vietnam.

On this occasion, the leaders of the two countries agreed to direct ministries and sectors of the two countries to actively implement the common perceptions achieved during the visit, bringing the Vietnam - Myanmar Comprehensive Partnership and Cooperation relationship into a new stage of development, increasingly deeper, more substantive and effective, meeting the interests and aspirations of the people of the two countries, making positive contributions to peace, stability, cooperation and development in Southeast Asia and the region.

Within the framework of the visit, President Min Aung Hlaing and Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang co-chaired the Vietnam - Myanmar Business Forum 2026.

President Min Aung Hlaing visited the VinFast Hai Phong Factory Complex and the Military Industry - Telecommunications Group (Viettel).
