At noon on December 16, at the Government Headquarters, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Education and Sports of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Thongsalith Mangnormek and the working delegation visiting Vietnam.
The Prime Minister believes that the visit will contribute to further deepening the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos as well as the trustworthy and effective cooperation between the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) of Vietnam and the Ministry of Education and Sports of Laos.
The Prime Minister requested the Lao Minister of Education and Sports to closely coordinate with the Ministry of Education and Training, as well as relevant ministries and branches of Vietnam to implement high-level agreements between the two countries in the field of responsibility through specific programs and projects, in the spirit of "doing whatever is done, finishing it, with focus and key points".
The two sides immediately promoted the establishment and construction of the Lao - Vietnam University and the Vietnam Cultural Center in Laos; coordinated to send Lao students in the border areas of the two countries to study at inter-level boarding schools in Vietnam; increased teaching and learning of Lao and Vietnamese in the two countries, including making Vietnamese a foreign language of choice at Lao schools for students to choose from. The two sides continue to build academic exchange programs; educate tradition and foster good relations between the two countries.
Reporting to the Prime Minister on this working trip to Vietnam, Minister Thongsalith Mangnormek said that the Lao Ministry of Education and Sports has held working sessions with the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam; the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; the Ministry of Science and Technology to promote cooperation in the fields of education and training, sports, science and technology.
The Lao Minister of Education and Sports said that the two sides are currently immediately implementing the establishment and construction of Lao - Vietnam University in Laos, in which Laos has been preparing the area to build a school that meets standards and is suitable for needs; continuing to develop a plan on the content, scale and construction process of Lao - Vietnam University.
The Lao side has also developed a pilot plan to send Lao students across the border to study at Vietnamese schools. In Laos, there are 13 educational institutions teaching Vietnamese, continuing to train teachers to teach Lao and Vietnamese to expand language teaching in each country.
Thanking the Party and State of Vietnam for supporting human resource training for Laos over the years, the Minister of Education and Sports of Laos said that Laos has determined a national development strategy until 2035.
The Minister suggested that Vietnam support and train human resources for Laos for this goal in various fields, especially science, technology, physical education, and sports; and believed that Vietnam would continue to be a solid support for Laos in various fields, including education and training and sports.
