Proposal to build railway lines connecting China

The Government has submitted to competent authorities the policy of building a North-South high-speed railway and railway lines connecting with China.

On October 3, at the Government headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a meeting of the Government Standing Committee with enterprises constructing key national projects.

According to the Office of the Government, speaking here, the Prime Minister reviewed a number of achievements and results in strategic infrastructure development in recent times.

The Prime Minister said that regarding aviation, the Long Thanh International Airport project is expected to be basically completed in 2025, Tan Son Nhat T3 terminal is expected to be completed by April 30, 2025, and Noi Bai T2 terminal is also expected to be completed on schedule.

Regarding highways, more than 2,000 km have been completed, 1,700 km are under construction and another 1,400 km will be started in the near future.

Regarding railways, the Government has submitted to competent authorities the policy of building a North-South high-speed railway and railway lines connecting with China.

Major seaport projects in Lach Huyen (Hai Phong), Lien Chieu (Da Nang), Quy Nhon (Binh Dinh), Cai Mep - Thi Vai (Ba Ria - Vung Tau) and Can Gio port (HCMC) are being promoted.

Along with that are the power and telecommunications infrastructure projects, especially the 500 kV power line project, circuit 3, Quang Trach - Pho Noi, which was completed in a lightning-fast time of just over 6 months.

The Prime Minister emphasized that infrastructure projects have created new development space, helped form new industrial, urban and service zones, increased land value, facilitated people's travel, reduced logistics costs, reduced prices, and increased the competitiveness of goods, products and the economy.

Since the beginning of the term, the Government has organized many conferences to meet and work with businesses and business associations.

The Prime Minister assessed that in recent times, construction enterprises have made many positive and important contributions in implementing key national projects and works, contributing to socio-economic development, especially promoting growth, controlling inflation, stabilizing the macro-economy, ensuring major economic balances, and controlling public debt well.

The Prime Minister said that the Government Standing Committee organized a meeting to listen to businesses’ opinions on experience in implementing projects; mobilizing capital for projects; continuing to improve institutions, removing difficulties and obstacles in mechanisms and policies such as those related to common raw material mines for projects, etc.

The Prime Minister also hopes that businesses will continue to make efforts, overcome their own limits and promote links and cooperation with foreign partners, thereby continuing to participate in implementing and building other major projects of the country in the coming time.

"The Government always accompanies, listens, and understands businesses, removes difficulties, overcomes challenges, in the spirit of 'working together, enjoying together, winning together, developing together', harmonizing benefits, sharing risks, harmonizing the interests of the State, businesses and people to promote the common development of the country, including the development of businesses," said the Prime Minister.
