Within the framework of the state visit to Laos, on the afternoon of February 5, in Vientiane Capital, Laos, General Secretary To Lam had a meeting with Lao National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane.
General Secretary To Lam and the Chairman of the Lao National Assembly expressed their pleasure to witness the extremely close and effective cooperative relationship between the National Assemblies of the two countries; cooperation activities between the Committees and agencies of the National Assembly are being implemented in many flexible forms, both within the bilateral framework and at regional and international inter-parliamentary forums; agreed to continue to deepen the content of "strategic linkage" agreed upon by the two countries in December 2025, thereby affirming the common vision, the intertwined strategic interests and the long-term companion orientation for sustainable, self-reliant and prosperous development of the two nations.
National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane thanked General Secretary To Lam for his close attention and direction in promoting cooperative relations between the two National Assemblies in particular and between the two countries in general, and affirmed that he will closely coordinate with the Vietnamese National Assembly to effectively supervise the implementation of high-level agreements and cooperation agreements signed, especially key economic projects, thereby contributing to further deepening the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, and strategic linkage between Vietnam and Laos.
The Chairman of the Lao National Assembly emphasized that no matter how the situation develops, the great relationship and solidarity between Laos and Vietnam will not change.
The two sides agreed to focus on thoroughly grasping and strengthening supervision of the effective implementation of the agreements reached between the two countries; continue to regularly exchange high-level visits, visits between leaders of the two National Assemblies and between National Assembly Committees, constantly expand and improve the effectiveness of cooperation in the fields of economy - trade, security - defense, people-to-people exchanges and localities, propaganda about the relationship between the two countries; strengthen cooperation, exchange, and sharing of experiences, especially in building and perfecting institutions and laws.
The legislative bodies of the two countries continue to promote their role, spreading the strengths of cooperation in politics, defense - security to the economic field and other fields; at the same time, establish and improve favorable cooperation mechanisms, coordinate with the Governments, local authorities and ministries and branches of the two countries to remove difficulties, promote Vietnam - Laos relations to develop and strongly connect in the new period.
