The two leaders exchanged and highly agreed on major orientations to further deepen Vietnam-Australia relations in the coming time, meeting the development needs of each country as well as adapting to changes in the regional and international situation.
The two leaders agreed to strengthen the political foundation through strengthening high-level and multi-level exchanges, deepening defense-security relations, including expanding to cyber security, preventing transnational crime and responding to non-traditional security challenges.
In economic, trade and investment cooperation, the two leaders emphasized the need to effectively exploit the complementarity of the two economies, take advantage of free trade agreements that the two countries jointly participate in, remove barriers and create favorable conditions for businesses. The two sides aim for a trade turnover target of 20 billion USD, while promoting supply chain linkages, high-quality investment and cooperation in the fields of green economy, digital economy, new energy and future industry.
General Secretary and President To Lam and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese agreed to make science and technology, innovation and digital transformation a new driving force of the two countries' relations; expand cooperation in strategic fields such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, quantum technology, biotechnology, biomedicine, marine research, essential minerals and green hydrogen; promote joint research projects, connect universities, research institutes and businesses, towards forming a Vietnam-Australia technology connection space and developing high-quality human resources. The two leaders also agreed to promote green and sustainable transformation cooperation, adapting to climate change, towards the goals of bringing net emissions to 0.
The two leaders highly appreciated the solid results of education - training and human resource development cooperation; agreed to continue to promote connections between universities, research institutes, educational institutions and vocational training, towards building programs to share knowledge, experience, and cooperate in training high-quality human resources between the two countries.
General Secretary and President To Lam welcomed the effective operation of the Vietnam - Australia Center at the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and the Center's contributions to the training of intermediate and senior cadres of Vietnam.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese sincerely thanked the Vietnamese Government for creating conditions for Australian universities, including RMIT University, to operate sustainably and conveniently in Vietnam.
The two leaders also welcomed projects and programs connecting people and broadly sharing knowledge between the two countries, including the Australia - Vietnam Policy Institute (AVPI), the Vietnam Policy Research Center at the Australian National University, the Vietnam - Australia Strategic Technology Center (AVSTC)...
General Secretary and President To Lam requested Australia to continue to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese students to study, work and accumulate experience in Australia, encourage the Vietnamese community in Australia to develop strongly, unite, promote the positive cultural values of both countries and become an effective bridge of friendship between the two countries.
