On April 24, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary and President To Lam had a phone call with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
At the phone call, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese congratulated General Secretary To Lam on being trusted by the 16th National Assembly to be elected as President; affirmed that Australia is interested and wishes to further strengthen relations with Vietnam in all fields.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese expressed his impression of Vietnam's rapid and comprehensive development, emphasizing that these achievements all stem from the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam; affirming that Australia always accompanies, supports, and assists Vietnam in implementing reforms to achieve the goal of becoming a high-income country by 2045.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese affirmed that Australia's stability, security and prosperity are deeply linked to Southeast Asian countries, in which Vietnam is one of the top important partners; emphasizing that Australia always strongly supports the central role of ASEAN.
General Secretary and President To Lam congratulated Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and the Labour Party on winning the general election in May 2025 as well as the effective implementation of major policies in governance, macroeconomic stability, social security, energy transition and green economy; expressed his belief that Australia will continue to develop prosperously and make positive contributions to peace, stability and prosperous development in the region and the world.
General Secretary and President To Lam assessed that Australia is always a reliable friend, a comprehensive strategic partner with great potential and increasing position and role in the region, sharing with Vietnam many strategic benefits as well as similarities in inclusive development, green transformation, digital economy and strategic autonomy.
The two leaders were pleased to see that Vietnam-Australia relations are increasingly developing strongly, reliably, substantively and effectively when the pillar areas in the Action Program to implement the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership 2024-2027 are all implemented on schedule, and so far have basically completed 96%.
The two leaders assessed that the world situation has many complex fluctuations, negatively impacting the regional and global supply chain, so they agreed to strengthen coordination to contribute to solving international issues of common concern, including maritime security and energy security.
The two sides agreed to strengthen political trust through maintaining regular exchanges and contacts on all Party and State channels and people-to-people exchanges; promoting substantive and effective cooperation in defense - security, trade - investment, science - technology, digital transformation, climate change response, energy and maritime cooperation.
General Secretary and President To Lam hopes that the Australian Government will continue to create favorable conditions and support Vietnamese intellectuals, experts, scientists and the Vietnamese community in Australia to develop more and more, as well as help Vietnamese cultural values get closer to the Australian people.
On this occasion, the Vietnamese side hopes to welcome Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to visit again soon; the Australian side also invited General Secretary and President To Lam to visit Australia at a suitable time.
