Vietnam has the first female Deputy Prime Minister

Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Tra was approved by the National Assembly to hold the position of Deputy Prime Minister for the 2021-2026 term.

On October 25, continuing the 10th Session, the National Assembly held a separate meeting on personnel work under the direction of Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.

The National Assembly listened to Standing Vice Chairman of the Delegation Work Committee Nguyen Huu Dong present a report summarizing the opinions of National Assembly deputies discussed at the Delegation on approving the appointment of Deputy Prime Minister for the 2021-2026 term.

With 429/430 delegates participating in the vote, the National Assembly passed a Resolution on approving the Prime Minister's proposal to appoint Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Tra as Deputy Prime Minister for the 2021-2026 term.

Previously, at the meeting on October 24, the National Assembly voted to approve the Resolution approving the proposal to dismiss Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Tra from the position of Minister of Home Affairs.

With this improvement, the current Government leadership is made up of 10 people, including Politburo member, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and 9 Deputy Prime Ministers.

The 9 Deputy Prime Ministers include Mr/Ms: Nguyen Hoa Binh (Standing Deputy Prime Minister), Tran Hong Ha, Le Thanh Long, Ho Duc Phoc, Bui Thanh Son, Nguyen Chi Dung, Mai Van Chinh, Ho Quoc Dung, Pham Thi Thanh Tra.

The new Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra was born on January 21, 1964; hometown Nghe An province.

During her working period, from May 2014 to September 2016, she was Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and then Secretary of the Party Committee of the People's Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Yen Bai province; Member of the 12th Party Central Committee (January 2016).

From October 2016 to January 2017, she was a member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Secretary of the Yen Bai Provincial Military Party Committee.

From February 2017 to September 2020, she was a member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council, Secretary of the Yen Bai Provincial Military Party Committee.

From October 2020 to March 2021, she was a member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Organization Committee, Member of the Party Committee, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs.

From April 2021, he will be a member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Organization Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

From April 2021 to present, he has been a member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, Minister of Home Affairs.

On January 24, 2025, the Politburo appointed Ms. Pham Thi Thanh Tra to join the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee of the Government Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term.
