Vietnam proposes China to give high priority to railway cooperation

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha suggested that China give high priority to infrastructure cooperation with Vietnam, especially railway cooperation.

At the invitation of the Chinese Government and the Yunnan Provincial Government, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha attended the 9th China - South Asia Fair and the 29th Kon Minh Fair from June 18-20, 2025.

On the afternoon of June 18, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha met with Deputy Head of the National People's Artist of China, Vuong Dong Minh.

The two sides expressed their delight at the socio-economic development achievements that each country has achieved in recent times, highly appreciated the development trend and positive achievements in the Vietnam - China relationship, especially the regularly maintained high-level exchanges, active growth in trade, investment, tourism, strategic connections, traffic connections, especially strong progress of railways...

Affirming Vietnam's consistent policy on top-notch relations with China, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha suggested that in the coming time, the two sides should organize well mutual visits by senior leaders, including visits between leaders of the two countries' legislative bodies.

Regarding cooperation areas, the Deputy Prime Minister suggested that the two sides give high priority to infrastructure cooperation between the two countries, especially railway cooperation, promote early start-up of the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong route, technology transfer and training of human resources on railways, and build a railway industrial complex.

The Deputy Prime Minister also suggested that the two sides promote bilateral trade in a balanced and sustainable manner, in which China continues to open the market for Vietnamese agricultural and aquatic products, coordinate in building smart border gates, cross-border economic cooperation zones, and enhance cooperation in power connectivity.

Hoping that the two sides will make efforts to make cooperation in the fields of science and technology, agriculture, and natural resources and environment a new bright spot and new growth driver of Vietnam-China relations, the Deputy Prime Minister suggested that the two sides strengthen cooperation at the national level on key technologies, cooperation in training human resources in science and technology, enhance cooperation in high-tech agriculture, recognize each other's testing and quarantine results; cooperation in handling urban air pollution, preventing and mitigating natural disasters, responding to climate change, and promoting cooperation in environmental protection.

Agreeing with and highly appreciating the cooperation proposals of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, Deputy Head of the National People's Artist of China Vuong Dong Minh emphasized that China always considers Vietnam a priority in China's neighborly diplomacy. China steadfastly supports Vietnam in building socialism in line with the country's situation.

In the areas of substantive cooperation, Mr. Vuong Dong Minh affirmed that China is ready to promote economic - trade cooperation, expand Vietnam's import and export of goods, promote transport infrastructure connectivity, increase high-quality investment, expand cooperation in science and technology, artificial intelligence, digital economy, environmental protection, commercial aircraft, strengthen power linkages, contributing to the implementation of each country's growth goals.
