From June 24-28, the 45th Standing Committee Meeting of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) took place in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia with the participation of 22 political parties that are members of the ICAPP Standing Committee from 17 Asian countries.
The delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam, led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ngo Le Van, attended activities within the framework of the meeting.
At the meeting, Deputy Minister Ngo Le Van emphasized the values of dialogue, building trust and cooperation for peace, stability, and development that ICAPP promotes in the face of profound international fluctuations; affirmed that the Communist Party of Vietnam values Party diplomacy and strengthening relations with political parties in the region, including through multilateral political party mechanisms.
On this occasion, the Head of the Delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam announced the policy of proposing to host the 14th ICAPP Plenary Session in Vietnam in 2028, affirming the commitment to participate, actively contribute and be responsible for the common activities of ICAPP.
The ICAPP leadership and members of the ICAPP Standing Committee welcomed the proposal of the Communist Party of Vietnam, considering this an important and practical milestone to further promote the role of ICAPP and strengthen cooperation between Asian political parties; it is expected to be officially announced and approved at the 13th ICAPP Plenary Meeting at the end of 2026.
At the special session of the ICAPP Standing Committee with the theme "Asian Transformation in the Digital Age: AI Challenges", the Head of the Delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam emphasized that AI is becoming one of the factors shaping economic growth, social progress, national competitiveness and global governance. Countries that effectively utilize AI will have more opportunities to break through, while those left behind are at risk of facing an increasing development gap; therefore, AI is not just a technology issue, but a strategic priority requiring effective governance, international cooperation, common responsibility and the participation of political parties, governments, businesses, academia and people.
The Deputy Minister affirmed that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and thoroughly grasping the spirit of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo, Vietnam identifies science, technology, innovation and digital transformation as key driving forces for the country's development in the new era, in which AI plays an important role in promoting innovation and sustainable development.
In that spirit, Vietnam proposes strengthening dialogue, building trust, research cooperation, human resource development, improving digital capacity and supporting developing countries to participate more deeply in the global AI ecosystem.
On the occasion of attending the ICAPP Standing Committee Meeting in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, Deputy Minister Ngo Le Van had bilateral working sessions with General Secretary of the Mongolian People's Party Sodbaatar Yangug, and met with Chairman of the ICAPP Standing Committee Chung Eui-yong.
