On April 8, before April 7 (local time), the US and Iran reached a temporary ceasefire agreement, Vietnamese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang stated clearly:
Vietnam welcomes the ceasefire agreement just reached on April 7, 2026 between the US and Iran, an important step to reduce tensions and towards restoring peace, stability, security, and safety in the Middle East region.
Vietnam calls on all parties to continue to exercise restraint, act responsibly, not complicate the situation; respect the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of nations; ensure security and safety for civilians, civil infrastructure as well as safety and freedom of navigation in the region; actively dialogue to find sustainable peaceful solutions to disagreements based on the basic principles of international law, the United Nations Charter, for the benefit of all parties, for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and in the world".
